AE Tutorial episode 1. Even if you have never programmed a synthesizer, this video will show you how I make a simple Scene for a Roland Aerophone Pro AE-30 or AE-20.
The first half describes the features I am going to use and the second half talks you through the steps I take to create the Scene.

Dear Mr. Mick, it is wonderful that you shared so much knowledge about the AE-30 and A-20!!! Thank you for doing so. Finally I can understand how to edit and manage my Roland A-20. Please make more videos, you make it so easy to understand this wonderful but uncharted instrument. Roland should have hired you from day one of the release of the AE-30. All the best!!!

Hello from New Zealand. I’ve just came across your post and I am a alto sax player. I’m going to check out Aerophone Pro tomorrow after coming across (not only your video) but also others I have seen. It certainly wets my appetite for EWI created music. Greetings - I have a cousin in Tokoroa. If you haven't already, check out Alistair Parnell's iSax channel. I love the AE-30 - the motion controls and thumbpad really help add expression. My next video will dig deeper into that. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.

Can u please do a video on a Arabic scene for the AE 30 Roland. I kind of desert wind, but with synth in it..Cool and middle Eastern tone or a Indian flute...Like in the in Asia.

Hi Mick.😀 I've never used an Aerophone, but I think it's a very attractive instrument for those who know how to play the saxophone. There is a professional band in Japan called Square and the saxophonist uses AKAI/EWI4000s. Anyway, it's wonderful that the synthesizer's tone can be expressed as smoothly as a saxophone.👍

Great info... Please share how to lessen the lower jaw distance on the reed. I opened it too much.... now cant lessen it.

Hi Manny, thanks for watching. Is it just one Scene with this problem or all of them? If it's all of them, I would take a look at page 4 of the Parameter Guide. I suspect the Bend Range Bite Dn setting is too big. You adjust that on the instrument. If not that, it could be the Bite Calibration. Alistair Parnell has an excellent video on calibrating the bite on his iSax channel. If it's just one scene affected, see page 25 of the Parameter Guide for info on setting the Bend Range Bite Dn parameter. You adjust that in the app. I plan to look into that in a future video.

Thanks for the detailed look at this accompanying app! Do you need to plug the aerophone to you phone in order to make scenes and change things so you can test in real time? Or are you doing all of this with Bluetooth connection?

Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Yes, I am doing all of this with the Bluetooth connection. As far as I can tell Bluetooth is the only mechanism for connecting the app to the Aerophone.

Thanks for watching and commenting. No, I haven't experimented with the vibraphone. To be honest I don't use the SuperNatural or tuned percussion scenes on my Aerophone. What aspects of the vibraphone scene don't seem realistic to your ears? I often find a subtle "small room" reverb helps make drums sound more integrated so you could experiment with the reverbs.

I play the Oboe. I am wondering what you recommend for a "perfect in your opinion" settings for Oboe?

Hi there, thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. Unfortunately the only thing I know about the oboe is that it's a double-reed instrument. The AE has alternative fingerings that you could customize. Which would be closest to the oboe; recorder, flute, or clarinet? If you're not already a member, I thoroughly recommend joining the iSax group on Facebook because there are some very knowledgeable people there (including classical musicians) who might be able to give you better guidance because I've always stayed with sax fingering.
