Is this knife ready for WAR?!? Recently yall gave me some input on three different knife designs. This design was the clear winner! There were many facets of this knife build that were new to me including hollow grinding the bevels and grinding in the clip on the blade. Trying out new techniques in the art of knife making is what makes this craft fun! I hope yall enjoy the build; and if you have any questions please put them in the comments below.

The editing is spot on as well, please keep them coming. Excellent work! I have always been too afraid to try a hollow grind.. however, I have made quite a few textured handles... I would try a larger diameter wheel, I typically run a 3/4” or 1” wheel for this operation. Also, I typically grind in the scallops after profiling but before shaping the scales (if that makes sense).

I have to say that I find most knife makers like either 5/32 or 3/16 for most general purpose knives, so good recommendation for the subscribers 👍 1/8 is great for a Caper/ Bird and Trout knife. Also as long as you get the distal taper and thickness behind the edge right, there’s nothing wrong with 1/8 for kitchen knives. Also, love hollow grinds! Everything has its place, depending on the knife, but I have a real soft spot for hollows 👌

Cheers Griffiths, good stuff there. I'm a big fan of a full flat grind on a 1/8'' stock, but this thing turned out great with a hollow!

@@RedBeardOps Cool👍. If you’re looking for interesting handle patterns, several years ago TuffKnives (Tough Thumbz) on KZfaq did two tutorials on his Anso pattern and his Reptilian pattern. I tried posting the link earlier, but for some reason the comment kept being deleted. Anyway if you do an easy KZfaq search on Tough Thumbz Reptilian you’ll find it. Geoff of ToughKnives is a seriously talented and highly sought after folder maker. Him and Gavko both are two of the original KZfaq knife making channels.

Hey Red. An other blade done with patience and care. That's a formatable looking knife! P.S. your voice overs with shop sounds are a pleasant watch and listen. Please don't ever switch to music. Looking forward to the next one.

Thank you greatly Marco. I've been trying to do shop sounds, voice over, and light music behind it all. Hope that's not distracting. Cheers!

@@RedBeardOps no, not distracting at all..that whole video done perfectly. I didn't mean to suggest the light music in the background wasn't working. Lol I was saying don't switch to that techno shit some maker's have blasting. ☺. Bro. Your calm voice over top of the shop sounds was right on the money! The contrast of a calm voice while working steel with 🔥 is perfect. Just my 2 cents, but you seem to have a good thing going. Nice talking with you bro.
