Really interesting. I feel the same way about wanting to keep my favorite works on a limited scale, but this could be a good outlet for the 'in-between' works that I wouldn't mind if they're floating around the digital world. I'll have to look more into this

Part of me is Quite happy this only has 47k views. Not cuz I don't wish u to profit of your videos, but because of that *window / threshold* of knowing a (trick/craft/trade/hussle) of how fast it goes from unknown to the ahead of the curve folks. To talked about widely to actively participated in to stabilized and highly saturated.

I enjoy taking outdoor photos and record video of birds, insects, and small wildlife. From these photos, I add filtering effects to each frame of the video and animate them as "gifs". Is there a special nft marketplace where I can post them to sell? Thanks.

I have a question regarding ownership legality of a photo NFT once it has sold. Is it no longer my photo at that point? You talk about uploading some of your most prized and passionate work, but if the “original” has been sold to someone else, you legally cannot use that photo for any further purpose, correct?

For anyone reading this, I dug a little deeper myself. Turns out; no. Copyright stays with the artist when the NFT is sold. Think of it like a 1/1 painting, the collector/buyer doesn’t own the rights to the painting when they purchase it. They just own the work itself. It is still the intellectual property of the artist. 👍🏼

There would be copyright issues, however there are Grey areas like a model holding the can, or a photo of one in the grass ehhhh … it gets complex to say the least, I wouldn’t be trying to sell something that others have potential copyright on.

If it’s a screenshot or if it’s attached to some Blockchain and it’s still a screenshot or JPEG it’s still not worth $6 million or whatever price tag you want to put on it. I’ve watched tons of videos on this stuff and it makes no sense.

Yes, they are not buying a print or the rights. There are buying a "token". More of a collectable.

@@StefanMalloch Yea this is what I've been talking about with a few other photographers & painters in different forums, regarding the "Uniqueness" of minting the photograph or painting into an NFT and the print copyrights. As some were thinking that for the right price it would be worth including them, since it would add additional potential value to the NFT. Guess it really depends on price their getting for the photo / NFT, but could see how this could get really sticky and tricky with photo / NFT's being resold down the line.

@@StefanMalloch That said another photographer had pointed to this other NFT platform that is supposed to be mainly for photographers called "Ephimera" that is listed as allowing creators to publish their work as unique 1-of-1, non-fungible tokens. I checked it out but it does not seem that they are taking new creators atm, so no clue how it compares cost wise for minting against sites like Open Sea, Rarible, Mintable, and others. That said it seems to be pretty hard for most anyone to get highlighted or attention on many of the sites unless they are already well known

@@StefanMalloch All that aside considering fees / gas prices any idea what others minting their photography into NFT's are charging ? Have seen some crazy cheap to where the gas fee on the sales would be more than they were charging for the NFt, and others in the ballpark of anywhere from 0.5 ETH = $800 - 1 ETH $1,600 or higher. Which I guess I could see them justifying "If" they were also including the print rights as others have stated to give it more value. Whole thing is a bit of a convoluted mess for those of us newer (Like myself) to actually trying to sell our photography online, in all reality I've only sold a few prints online in the past year. Though I've sold more locally / physically to friends, family, and strangers I've met while out and about in the act of actually taking photos at various parks in the general area I live in.

This is a great thing for serious artists. But with the ledger serving as the means to justify ownership of the art, doesn’t that mean that fraud is even easier? As in, until the art is entered into the ledger, unless the artist went out of their way to secure it, the art is not able to be tracked back to them. So couldn’t a person fraudulently upload someone else’s art to profit off without their knowing? And if so, wouldn’t that art technically be listed from there on out as the fraud’s artwork? Since they are the only person it would be tracked back to through the ledger. Correct?

A few issues come to mind: Long term storage of the digital asset / artwork and who's responsible for it (as opposed to the token that references it) , "limited" editions and all the headaches and liabilities that are associated with actually defining an "edition" and tracking, accounting, and guaranteeing it remains limited, and copyright - who owns the copyright to each work / edition, and how is it enforced? This area is so new and disruptive that there are sure to be major problems for artists and collectors until they are settled. If you get lucky and sell some of your work for a fortune, just be sure to set aside a chunk of it for legal fees when the NFT market inevitably crashes, and a collector decides they want their money back. Now you have deep pockets and people with deep pockets usually get sued sooner or later. Starving artists, not so much. It doesn't matter if you are innocent of wrongdoing . You'll have to defend yourself in court, or you'll lose by default. Good lawyers aint cheap. Just something to consider while your minting up all those editions hoping to get filthy rich...

Lawyer here. Make some contracts with jurisdiction in Latin America probably mexico or Colombia. Sell the rights, and buyer should waive the liabilities. Make it in a long text and small letter web contract. Voila you're protected.

Fees change with the market. I didn't see a point of saying how much they were on the day of the video because they are different today.

Be aware that if u sell a photo as NFT it’s no longer ur property and u can’t profit from it for say stuff like prints because u are no longer the owner
