I'd also recommend to turn on "Pan while driving" in the settings! It will pan the camera forward when you're driving (like when youre aiming) and you don't have to have the window rolled down

You can remove firstly vehicle battery to disarm alarm chance for sure before breaking the window. Also you can recharge vehicle battery. More charge->more chance to start engine even if it is cold outside.

Wind down the drivers windows so you can pan the camera while driving. Just dont forget to wind it back up when your in Z territory!

If you’re really brave, you can combo this with winding down your window and then holding either ctrl or right click and you gain an extended view range, just REMEMBER TO WIND UP THE WINDOW!

Other tip: If you want to really hit the ground running, start as a burgler, find a police vehicle/ambulance, anything with a siren. Take it, engage the siren, drive trough the urban blocks of where you want to loot, then slowly drive out of the town, towards a forest. Now drive the car as deep as you can with the horde following into the forest. RUN AWAY. Now go loot the empty grocery stores, steal freezers at your leisure, and go claim a base. Doing this if i spawn on riverside i usually head to the two gas stations, by the trailer park and by the car wash. steal the popsicle freezers, load those into a van, and then usually drive past the police station for a cop car, steal that and just lure everything away from riverside. Loot the grocery store for all the perishable vegetables on the displays, fill up your freezers at home. Day 1 you will have a food supply for the next 6 months in game

I noticed that car keys are now more common than before. Before I would STRUGGLE. Checked everywhere, around the car, if the key was in or in a glovebox. I would get like 1-2 cars out of 20 checked out cars. Now the keys are way more common which I love and it makes so much more sense that cars in car crashes would have their key left in or in the glovebox cus who would have time to take the key out and put it in your pocket when you just crashed a car in a zombie apocalypse. Currently have like 15 car keys. These cars are mostly with no gas, some are impossible to drive. But I like it. Have em keys for the future whenever I'll fix the cars.

The perfect vehicle for the zed apocalypse would really be the Land rover defender 90 or 110 imho. props for it being in the vid. ❤

Another tip - if you’re being chased by a horde and you get in your car and immediately start driving, there’s a huge risk of being bit. The game doesn’t have car door animations yet, so if you don’t hear the car door close, you can still be bit that way. Lost a very long character due to this annoying feature

The problem with cruise is it tends to burn way more fuel than just alternating W on and off.

Just taught my gf about this the other day. It's usually how I handle my long drives. Only downside is if you bump a road hazard like a wandering zombie, you basically immediately stop so be ready to assume direct control when near hordes.

Okay, that helps out a ton. I had to keep shifting around full throttle and no throttle to control the car which is too much work when 20 mph would be plenty.

I also use cruise control when towing vehicles, so that the car doesn't go to a higher gear, very handy if you're towing some little bit to large or heavy.

I like the mod that makes bikes a thing since no gas is needed and you don't get tired mixed with fact it goes about the speed of a truck with premiums offroad.

Cars are my fav part in project zomboid. Right now my goal is to collect all vehicles from whole city and gather them in 2 places where i can repair and dismantle them to upgrade my others. Right now I ve got more than 40 cars, and theres more and more distance to travel to get new ones.

Lol im used to always holding down the shift key cuz usually its a sort of boost or sprint button in alot of games i play makimg me constantly engage cruise control accidentally 😅

Cars are awesome. My problem was I was just often crashing too much and either killing the car or me. Anf almost always because I wasn't able to react fast enough. But then I found out you can roll down your car window and aim with rmb to have more control over your fov and also just be able to see a lot further ahead of you. That's a game changer.

I am playing with my friend and just realised that we were playing apocalypse difficulty from the beginning and did not noticed.

I never use cruise control, partly because I always forget how to do it but also because I know that it will make my attention start to wander and I will end up wrapping my car around a tree in Zed territory (…. Again!)

also, dont forget to wait a second before driving because apparently if you dont hear the door close sound, zombies can bite you. its really dumb ngl.

I like using my controller for long road trips, helps govern my speed a little bit without needed cruise control.

But be careful of sticky keys popping up then you crash 😂

I find cruise control most useful when I have to reload something while driving. For actual long trips I don’t use it because I will most definitely get distracted and subsequently flung out of the windshields & into a zombies mouth 😭😭

I wish there was just an easier way to control your speed on mouse and keyboard. I dont want to take sunday driver, but id like to be able to cap my speed at certain times.

I always use it when towing since most vehicles once they shift up from first lose speed when towing and crawl to a stop ... so keeping it in first is faster tho does use more fuel, and is quite noisy.. (You can also open the map without stopping while on cruise control but dont map n drive from too long cause trees & poles suck at any speed) :0

Using Cruise Control your car will always go at the max RPM - so no, not reallly advised if u wanna keep the car.

Soooo not going to use this, I have a higher death rate using a car than dieing to some birds. It sucks driving at a normal speed and then crashed cars in the road and due to sight and render distance I couldn't see it before it was too late.

Until they fix CruiseControl DON'T FREAKIN' USE IT !!! Yes you can control the speed but the car revs up to maximum, attracting EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE in its maximum sound radius. Sure it's not a problem when you're driving to your destination, but good luck backtracking...
