From series 15: Make the fastest egg boat. Your egg boat must look like a boat and transport an egg. If your egg boat sinks or loses its egg, you are disqualified. Also, all your materials must start with the same letter and you can't order anything boaty.

this task reminded me of physics class when we made egg rockets. we were graded on how high they went and the height doubled if the egg survived. mine was the only one to pass without the egg surviving because it went basically 2x the height of everyone else ...... also learned that cotton does not make for a safe cushion for eggs

A group of us did a boat race across a lake in the Alaska wilderness once using whatever we could find in our camp. Stick tied to a balloon won by a mile…I made a catamaran out of sticks and had little figurines on it. No points for craftsmanship!

For reference of anyone wondering, water has a weight of nearly 1 metric ton per cubic meter, or 1 kilogram per litre this is likely all completely irrelevant since i doubt that either of them were doing the actual buoyancy calculations (or any others) that fluid density is required for

I'm genuinely baffled by the question "how heavy is water" First, because I imagine if there's a single thing every person on earth would have held in their hand at some point, it would be container with water Second, because even if Alex replied "1 gram per mL, or a kilogram per liter"... What are they going to do with that information? Not to mention that this is the secons or third time I've seen someone has ask that on the show

I tried to quickly think of the five things I would use and I got cardboard, craft glue, candles (large and lit), candy and cotton. Make a flat bottomed boat out of the cardboard with a cardboard sail, use the melted wax to hopefully create a layer of protection from the water on the bottom of the boat, use the cotton to make a nest in the boat so it can’t roll around and destabilise the vessel and eat the candy 👍 The wax may be the downfall but thats what I get for coming up with a plan under pressure 😂

I'm trying to think about what I would have used for the task. Straws, sticky tape, scissors, sticks, styrofoam. We can't really get plastic straws here in Australia any more, but the paper ones would have lasted long enough for the task - or I would have coated them in sticky tape to help with waterproofing.
