There is a software controllable fan header on the board. It is available in Klipper.

I've moved mine. Still doesnt quiet it down, nor does it cool very well

Thanks for the video Bryan! Like you, I wanted to quiet the SV08 down where ever possible. Even at idle the motherboard fan is screaming away. This code was shared on the Facebook group. Added anywhere in the printer.cfg file, this will turn the motherboard fan off 2 minutes after the last stepper motor has turned or heater shut off. Also, causes the fan to run at 75% speed. Either of these can be adjusted to your taste. In my opinion, Sovol should be including this from the factory. At least they gave us a controlable pin (PA1) so we can do this ourselves - big props for that! [controller_fan controller fan] pin: PA1 kick_start_time: 0.5 max_power: 1.0 shutdown_speed: 1.0 fan_speed: 0.75 idle_timeout: 120 Idle_speed: 0.5 heater: heater_bed, extruder stepper: stepper_x, stepper_y, stepper_z, stepper_z1, stepper_z2, stepper_z3

You could put some locating pegs on the cutting template that fit in the original screw holes so it's always perfectly square.

I installed the Noctua 40x10 24v before I ever turned the printer on, so I don't know what ya'll are talking about. Drop in replacement and whisper quiet, though more expensive.

I recommend the Noctua as well. Did you insert the code to reduce fan speed at idle? It helps alot also.

Nice video, Bryan. Excellent pun to info ratio. Don't forget to add in the few cents for the broken cutoff wheels, LOL.

Haha! I'm down to two or three cutoff wheels, and those are from the original batch that came with the Dremel.

Done the same to my creality CR6. Those 60mm 24v fans were so loud! I replaced them with 80mm 12v fans with a buck converter. Two years have passed since that mod and it still works great. I sleep near my printer and I do not have any issue even when it is working (made other several mods to reduce vibrations, hotend fan and part cooling fan noises)

Love it! I would ask you to contact Sovol and tell them directly so that Maybe they will consider this fix and change their manufacturing. Best video so far on fixing this issue and love the actual links with part numbers too. Sion there will embe a whole slew of extra fans and grills for sale super cheap in ebay. Thank you for another excellent video!

For those who don't have a rotary tool, or don't want metal dust everywhere, I recommend using a nibbler (like the Radio Shack HT-204) instead.

I just got my sv08 put together & measured my ambient noise level in the room at 48dB, and with the sv08 on (no mods) at 60dB (1 meter from the unit).

Thanks Bryan!! Just what I was looking for! When I first turned on my SV08 I thought a dump truck was backing up. The up and down resonance on top of the decibles was (and still is maddening)! I going to do this mod immediately!

Fans and shroud proximity, have been something that manufacturers still haven't figured out since Ender3 for some companies.. from an engineering perspective, it's honestly sad. They just have an obsession with these stamped fan shrouds and sticking the fans right against it.. all it takes is spacers to move the attachable style of shrouds a few mm further from the fan. Sometimes ground clearance becomes an issue, then you also need to extend the printer's feet a bit.

adding a quieter fan, such as a Noctua, will help when running and idle. I love who ever figured out the code to reduce fan speed at idle.

Hi. Thanks for the video. Just FYI, the link to the fans now takes me to a 12V fan instead of a 24V fan. There doesn't appear to be one from that manufacturer that's 24V. I guess you cornered the market!

Dad joke level = black belt I have one of those older dremels too and it just keeps on working. Been a phenomenal tool and I'm very familiar with that hot air that comes off the motor. Can make things uncomfortable sometimes. And those cutting wheels come in large packs for a reason. 😁 I've had a number of oopsies over the years where I put a brand new wheel on and immediately break it. The man who makes no mistakes never makes anything.

Hi, with an ambient temperature of 26.8˚C as reported by the bed, the host temp is around 44˚C and the MCU temp is around 32˚C.

@BV3D awesome. That sounds better than stock. It's about 12c down here and the host temp sits around 34 to 40c no load.

I received my SV-08 on June 26. It has an aluminium bottom plate that has protection for the main wire loom. I would not recommend those fans that you link to Amazon. Winsinn makes 6010 / 24 volt a 4 pack for $20 USD. dual BB fans.

Do we REALLY have to mod every new printer because the fans sound like a hairdryer? I would gladly pay 30 bucks more for a SILENT printer, but no. The companies use the smallest, cheapest fans so they can save a few cents.

please just spend a little more and get a decent fan, those cheap ones fail fast and start rattling... a GDstime fan would do, its cheap and good
