I did add a Sam Browne stud one inch below with three holes in the closure strap. This is my every day carry for tools in the I.T. world. Fantastic bag that pulls lots of positive compliments. I used burr rivets and 6 oz. pebbled dark brown chrome tanned leather. Fantastic pattern! Highly recommend! Great video that even an old Aggie ('93) like me can follow... Thanks so much!

Yesterday I made a comment about holding pieces together with a device. I also wanted to say something about sewing long runs. What I learned from Desilpunkro is to double up the thread instead of knoting it at the end and you could just feed it out as needed when needed.

Just made this and both the pattern and tutorial were super clear and all went smoothly. It gave me a great excuse to finally use my side of chrome tanned leather. Thanks!

If you use your hole punch on the ends, where you feed the strap for the d ring, it will keep stretch out from happening. If you use use a very thin wire and “sew” every 10 holes it will make stitching alignment easier

Why have 2 separate pieces for the lid and back panel? Why not just cut it from one piece? Have the back panel rise high enough to flip over the front to be the lid as well. Seems a bit more time consuming to cut 2 pieces only to join them again with stitches, just cut it as one piece. 2 birds, 1 stone.

When assembling the pattern, there is NO need to cut the excess off of BOTH parts and then attach both of them together with scrap paper. Just leave the excess on one part and glue the part that was trimmed to the excess.

Thanks for the great tutorial. When you pre-punch the front, back and gusset with the diamond chisels, aren't the diamonds pointing in opposite directions when the front is placed against the gusset for example?

What is the minimum thickness for this bag?

Wouldn't it be easier (at8:25) to cut just one part at the dotted line, and glue it to the overlapping paper of the other? IMO - less place for imperfections. BTW - I cut the design couble of months ago... but it's been sitting and waiting for sewing ever since. So the time has come and I'm doing it now. :)

Why do you mark the holes if you're using a chisel anyway? It seems like a lot of extra work for no extra benefit?
