Hi my friends! So happy to be back. Thank you for your patience while I took a little refresher. I know I am going to get roasted for forgetting the theme song, I know its comin. Lol!! I don't know how I forgot. I was just excited to be back. Anywho, yay halloween season is here. Today's story has been highly requested and really just straight awful. I am not sure how you parents out there monitor your kids online, but I'm hoping you’re just trying your best out there.
Let me know who you want me to talk about next week! I love and appreciate you so much, and I hope to be seeing you very soon!!

For those who would like to know, Payton is now a sophomore in college pursuing a degree in the medical field. She had PTSD after the attack and would sleep with her mother in fear of being alone. She says she doesn’t really remember much of the attack, thankfully, and has learned to accept her scars from the attack. She still has a hard time trusting friends and family and also still to this day sleeps with a pair of scissors just in case. She has said she’s working on putting everything behind her and getting back to living a normal life🙏🏼

Thank you so much for posting this. I listen to Bailey's stories a lot, but this story made me feel sick to my stomach and I felt so relieved when I heard she survived. I'm so glad she is doing relatively well. I also suffer from PTSD and I hope she has a really great therapist helping her with it.

Payton actually lost her glasses they were knocked off during the attack and she was blind without them. She used the trees and followed the sounds to guide her to safety. She's an amazing little girl finding her way to the road for help bleeding profusely and not able to see.

I feel like the fact she couldnt see clearly helped her survive and make it to where she was saved. Most people start to panic to the point of not being able to function or think when they see the severity of their wounds which ultimately stops them or slows them down. Kinda like when you break a toe in your shoe but until you look at it you dont fully know whether or not it's broken so you keep walking and then when you finally look at your broken toe all of a sudden its 10x worse to walk on than it was before

A really incredible and VERY lucky for Payton, was the fact that the biker who rescued her went into a kind of "restricted area". He actually climbed over a chain that was marking an "off" territory and decided to bike there. Otherwise, Payton may have never been found. Kudos to this guy!

Yet another note to add, even though this is an older video: Morgan's parents WERE monitoring what she was doing on the internet, but they didn't know that she thought he was real. Yesss! If anything....ANYTHING...put on proper parental blocks! I understand every family situation is different with some having parents work late or all day...or they're a stay at home parent and may need a break from the kiddos and give them time on the internet. BUT, if some kind of parental block was on...it could (would in my opinion) help with kids seeing videos and stories that they just aren't ready for! (Hope that makes sense).

My oldest is 9 and is honest about what he does and watches. Even if it's bad. Because I don't yell at him or punish for it. I sit with him and explain why it's not okay. He understands. Even if he disagrees, he usually listens. There have only been a handful of times where he did it again but we had another talk and I gave him the ultimatum of listening and doing what's right or getting in trouble. I let him make the choice to do the right thing. It gives him a sense of control over his life and it's a game changer.

I think "internet literacy" should be taught to kids in schools around age 10 where they can learn what fact checking is and what Photoshop is so that as they begin to live their lives online they'll be better prepared with critical thinking skills. I'm not an educator so I have no idea if 10 year old kids would get it but I like to think kids are smarter than they're given credit for.

I agree!!! My 8yr old nephew started to take a huge liking to PCs, gaming and online In general, I asked his mum if I could have a similar conversation with him she agreed and could see the benefits behind it. He is smart he understood. If the kid is smart enough to control an entire PC we should be having this conversation from the age they start taking interest in the internet

If a parent falls into that category of having difficulty monitoring their kiddo they can also reach out to their support group, friends, family, their kids friends parents... Someone to help with the monitoring if you think it's necessary to do so. There's something to be said about trust and an open dialogue that goes a long way to keeping your kiddo safe. Like Peyton? She straight up asked her mom if it was real. Open dialogue. Listening. It's important.

My son (22 now), was literally OBSESSED with Slenderman. His bedroom walls were covered in weird Slenderman art work, and I mean covered! He talked about it constantly. Honestly, I was becoming very concerned about it. As an adult he thinks it was so obviously fake, but he wouldn't have it at the time, he was convinced. Luckily, no harm done, he grew up and now thinks it is as ridiculous as I thought then. But honestly at the time I was really worried. Just shows how impressionable our kids are at that age.

This is exactly why I say to my kids eveeytime we watch TV or a video or they get on KZfaq and it's some stuff like slenderman or even a character dying. I remind them its NOT real. And that most of their KZfaq videos are just adults acting scared and faking these things to go viral on KZfaq. Plus my sons autistic so he doesn't always grasp when someone isn't serious. Or if somethings a joke or seems really fake and put on

Oh my goodness!! I never would’ve thought my parents would be concerned over my interests as a teen, so I’m glad your son wasn’t as impressionable. I’m 24 and I use to love Slenderman too, and other horror media and urban legends as a lil teenager. However when I first got introduced to these online stories, the first one I read in 2010 (I was in middle school and it was about a haunted video game) I thought it was real. I was so scared. If anything I was more scared of the “monsters” rather than wanting to k*ll for them. I had to sleep with my mom one night I was so scared haha. We luckily had a talk and she said maybe don’t read these and wait until I’m a bit older. But still!! It really is important to include your parents with your likes and hobbies. I was lucky since my mom was a classic horror fan and we got to enjoy some of these stories together when I got to be an older teen, but once we found out about this incident, I kinda fell out of being invested in these “creepy pastas.” I still enjoy them from time to time and I think horror is a great genre to tell fun stories, but at the end of the day, they’re just that. Fun made up stories.

This one hits home as one of the girls was my daughter’s best friend. We were a part of the HBO documentary, court n all sorts of stuff. We were out looking for the kids so terrified, and my daughter was supposed to meet up with Ani at the park that day, but went to the wrong park. This story changed all of our lives. I could only imagine how it would have affected us had she gone to David’s park instead of Roberta. This whole thing is so tragic. Fyi pronunciation is Aneessa, but spelled Anissa

I think education is the key for preventing this kind of things (and many others too). For example in Finland we are taught media literacy in school, woven into the native language & literature studies - to kids and adults, especially since social media became a major thing; teaching us how to tell apart the reliable media sources from the bs, to question and check the background of researches (who funded it, is there a motive etc), and all that stuff but most importantly: that not everything you see/read on the internet is true.

@@unicornbaby9167 I mean, even if kids didn't actively look up these stories it doesn't stop it from being in the media or talked about by peers. It won't stop, but kids should be taught between what's real and what's not. A lot of kids that do like these fictional characters (like my friends and I in middle school) thought they were cool but never would go as far as hurt anyone because of these stories.
