Today’s video is a collaboration with Piotr Tocyznski of the Cut to the Point KZfaq channel. Over on CTTP, Piotr teaches lessons on the artistic and technical sides of digital video editing.

For my end of the deal, we’re going to make a raised-letter sign of his logo. I’ve made signs before on this channel by cutting wooden letters on a jigsaw or bandsaw. But this time, it’s different. The challenge for this one is that Piotr lives in Poland! So I need to produce this sign in a way that gets it across the ocean as safely and cheaply as possible.
That’s why for this sign, I’m going to try printing the letters out on my 3D printer. I got this thing back in October, and I’ve used it for a lot of random stuff, but not for anything that needs to look nice. So figuring out how to smooth and finish these 3D-printed letters will be another challenge.
To save on shipping costs, I’m going to be focusing on the letters only. Once they’re done, I’ll throw them in a box, and Piotr can assemble the thing in Poland. So that’s another challenge: Working together on a single, physical project with a guy 4,500 miles away.
