Use any food safe clay and just keep in mind it’s shrinkage rate when making the stem for the down stem to fit in! And this one is glazed with a white glaze called snow 😊

Nice concise vid. I liked how you showed application of wax/latex to retard the drying of the stem. What did you factors did you consider on deciding what diameter to make the stem?
@theclaycollective
@theclaycollective 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so so much! For the stem hole, I measured the circumference of my glass downstem and then used a shrinkage calculator to find out how big I needed to make the stem for the glass piece to fit after shrinkage 😊

@theclaycollective
@theclaycollective 3 жыл бұрын
Hey! I buy my down stems on Amazon, they’re pretty generic so I just went for whatever’s inexpensive. The o-rings I buy from the hardware store. Use a shrinkage ruler to determine how big you need to make the opening of your bong in order for the down stem to fit after clay shrinkage! 😊

How well do they do when it’s time to clean the bong
@theclaycollective

What is the size of the hole maker tool that you used?
@theclaycollective
@theclaycollective 2 жыл бұрын
This one is a 7/8 hole punch! Just make sure you measure your downstems with a shrinkage ruler first to make sure that’s the correct hole punch to use for your pieces 😊 I like to have a few different sizes for different style bongs and stems!

Question: how do I add glaze inside so water doesn't ruin it in use?
@theclaycollective

I used a dipping glaze, but instead of dipping I use a cup to pour it inside and then dump the excess back into the glaze bucket 😊

@@shaunkingkgttoatyerrdvhjus6850 absolutely! Glaze turns to glass after fired so there will be no leaking or absorption if you coat the inside with dipping glaze. And it will be just as easy to clean and care for as any other bong ☺️
