Making a Fairy (Pixie) Sculpture

This little lady has stolen my heart and been a great friend to me. I hope you enjoy this record of her creation.

Materials:
I used a package of clay I bought from the crafts store, but as you will see explained in the video, it was apparently ceramic clay and not air dry clay. I would recommend buying some air dry clay to prevent cracking.
As for the paint, I bought some metallic blue paint and mixed it with white acrylic to create the different shades. I used another pearly, sparkling paint on top of some areas to make them shine. I applied glossy varnish as the finish.

She looks really beautiful and so elegant too! It was lovely to watch the whole process and also see how you persevered to save it after the cracks appeared. I'd have binned it at that point thinking it was ruined!

Hello! First off, I put some water on the cracks with a brush to soften them. Then I probably added some soft clay on top and smudged it into the cracks as much as I could. But it's better to avoid cracks in the first place. Use air dry clay, unlike me!

Thank you! While I was sculpting, I made two holes on her back that are the right size for the wire I used on the wings. I simply attach the wires to the holes and I can remove them.

Hello! I just used a thick wire I found in the art supplies store, I don’t really know what it is exactly, but anything thick enough to hold the sculpture together would do. I’m not sure about the baking. The clay I used says it can be baked on its package, but I suspect it would end up with a lot of cracks or a total breakage for this particular work.

I'm sorry, I don't know. It's been a long time too. It was just a thick wire I found in the craft store.

I made the wings on a wire, leaving a bit of the wire outside on the ends. (2:19) I stuck them inside the holes I made on the fairy's back. So they are actually not fixed.
