@@wuukaa9079 that way, once you start the circuit it's cold and limits current and holds the inrush current, but as the circuit runs the resistance drops to allow the circuit to run more efficiently now that the capacitors are already charged, this setup is common on Desktop PC power supplies

A full bridge rectifier converts AC to DC, and an inverter converts DC to AC. I would absolutely love to see just a chain of rectifiers and inverters for the fun of it.
@coastersaga
@coastersaga Жыл бұрын
I'm drawing a schematic for a circuit I call a CATR (Current Amplifying Transistor Rectifier) right now. This is similar to a full bridge rectifier but it uses transistors instead of diodes. This keeps the DC voltage output the same as the AC input voltage, but the DC output will have a larger current, which is determined by the beta value of the transistors. Low-power applications would use signal transistors, but high-power applications would use power transistors.

@@coastersaga Unless I've misunderstood you, what you're describing is actually impossible. If the output voltage is the same, but the current is higher, then your circuit would be _producing more power than it's consuming,_ which would violate the laws of physics. The only way you can produce more current is by reducing the voltage, or vice-versa.

Actually he doesnt fake most of the incidents, they are scripted of course but not faked. He surely wouldnt put himself in extreme danger on purpose but the things that happen arent exaggerated and could happen exactly like this. good video. A story of my own fuckup: I was doing work on a small electric car which is a two car-battery 48v system, and I was trying to rig up a shunt resistor on the positive rail and probe the output to see the current. The car is isolated from ground because it's running on batteries and is up off the floor on rubber tires, so not a problem to attach the ground of the probe to a point which is right on the positive rail. I'm sitting in the seat of the car with about 4 alligator clip leads draped across my lap and doing some tests while looking at the scope on the bench. As I'm free-running the motor without a chain the vibration makes the car roll back just slightly and the metal frame touched the apparently grounded metal wall behind me. The wires in my lap light up and some stuff caught on fire with a bang.

I think the best "rectifier" I made was... I used a center tapped transformer, with 4 capacitors and 4 diodes, to make a dual rail voltage doubling rectifier... though it was probably only half wave, it did what I needed it to do.

My guess is that the current spike of rapid discharge of the capacitor behaves similarly to AC which passes through humans more easily.
