Instructions unclear: I ended up creating gmod 2

I have been playing this game for 7 continuous years and I just now learned how to make a map. Epic.

Fun fact: if you're using gmod textures people who play dont need to download anything else gmod.

FOR PEOPLE WHO DON't KNOW HOW TO WORK THE CUTTING TOOL: 1. Select the cliping tool and wall, 2. You make the line with the tool on the wall, 3. do Shift+x until you see the wall turn white on the top right camera, 3.5. hit enter, 4. make another line with the tool on the wall, 5. hit enter, scale down the cutout to your liking. I'm not sure how I found it out but I did I guess

My first map was so terrible lol i couldnt figure out doors or a skybox so i made a thing over the top of the box and gave it a sky texture

Dude can you please explain how exactly you cut off some pieces of the wall? If Im cutting off something it just marks the whole wall... Do you press any keys? (sry for mistakes, i am from Germany)

Hey so as I'm choosing my textures and laying down the outline for my map I'm not seeing anything appear in the top left box. There isn't an outline or anything, I'm not quite sure why being as I've followed your guide exactly as you show yet this issue still persists. Any ideas?

This was a great tutorial. Although i am curious if it is possible to take maps from the files of other games and import them into gmod? I have been wanting to take some of the multiplayer maps from halo combat evolved and put them into gmod for a while now.

I was stuck on when you said "and then press enter to create the object you were trying to make" because I heard it "inner" :)

I'm lost. I exported the game and saved it but when I exported it came out as two files, .vmf and .vmx. The problem with that is that I don't know where to put it. Because every file has .ain and some others in them. What do I do? Where do I put them?

Can’t i just model a map in blender or maya and then import it to the editor ? Can i scale objects ?

Whenever I actually play my game, is gives me a screen saying nodes rebuilding or something, them when that disappears, It's just a black screen with my item in the corner... And when I turn on my flashlight, the blackness goes pure white.

Every time I press enter, the wall, floor, etc I tried creating disappears. It just goes away.

When I open a new map I get a block with a no draw texture and when I try to create a new one it won't even appear when I press enter. Even the outline doesn't appear when I'm making it. Help?

When I press run map it says the command failed.windows reported the error “the system cannot find the file specified” what should I do?
