I had these parts just lying around and need a Red Pads Grand Slam for my collection. Let’s see if the enamel paint can be cleaned off and a figure can be repainted from original 82-83 parts. Enjoy!

That’s great to know, thanks. I’m still learning how to paint match. My wife is sure I’m colour blind.

how long do you leave them in the break fluid? I tried to strip an R2-D2 head, and it turned to goo in a matter of minutes.

Did you use break fluid or something else? I put them in half hour intervals. The yellow and black enamel came off within the first half hour but the silver took a couple hours and I still had evidence of some but didn’t want to risk longer.

@@toysbackzen the dot 3 break fluid. R2 was sludge in around 10-15 minutes.

@@manofaction1807 wow, that’s crazy! Dot 4 is supposed to work slower so that might be a better option for Kenner plastic but toys are made of so many different compositions of plastic it’s always a gamble. Perhaps trying it on the inside of the toy on a small spot first is a good practice before the whole thing turns to goo.

It should not hurt the plastic

I have read many post saying it does, I hope this shows it safe, although the plastic I was using was brittle from age.

It can definitely hurt plastic, especially when the plastic is aged. Believe it or not but in the auto industry they test all of their plastics with various cleaning and auto related fluids so I would say the risk is there.

The red is too dark

Yeah, it seems it was perfect when it was wet but did dry a little darker than Flashes pads. I’m ok with it though.
