Good job Darrell! Some serious cutting in that steel! It make short work of those roots.

That thumb would be more efficient if you had a hydraulic ram attached to it and a curved claw at the tip. A Serrated edge on the back side of your tooth would catch the roots good to push them away and upward.

@@allenmkent9141 yes I added the serrations and other improvements later off camera, this is a older video

@@TheHomePros6221 you did a great job man, seems to really do the trick. Teeth on the end will be a great addition as you’ll be able to saw through bigger roots even better. I plan on buying a mini excavator myself very soon and watching these videos gets me excited. Thinking about buying a bobcat E20

I was really rushed to get the video out so I will def be doing some upgrades to it, it was getting dark and I was tired so I’ll prob do a quick video of it after. I really appreciate you watching!!

@@TheHomePros6221 did you have an update on the ripper? How's it holding up? Any changes you would make? What thickness plate did you use. Is it like the AR500? Thanks for the inspiration!
@TheHomePros62212 жыл бұрын
@@alan0166 yes it is still holding up great no problems at all!! I cut teeth along the front of it which helps tremendously!! If I could change anything I would have made it longer to reach the deeper roots

Great video and build! I imagine that would work great for demolishing a shed or wood structure.

Mate that’s an awesome ripper you’ve made and works well softening up the stump. Next on your list will be a quick attach to swap out for the bucket. I didn’t think such a small excavator would be so versatile

Do you have a update video on modifications? This is cool and I need something like this but these tree in your video looks small and stumps look dry. I 'm working on removing white Ash stumps 18-20" and Hackberry in the same diameter or slightly larger. These are recently cut like less than 8 months ago and been a struggle to break out the lateral roots
@TheHomePros6221 Жыл бұрын
I did a lot of mods after I made this video I cut serrated teeth on it and made it a lil longer..ect I know the stumps look dry but they were hickory trees that were cut about two weeks before and they are extreamly solid they are the hardest stumps to pull up because they have very long tap roots

Run a few beads on the edges and you'll have some hardness to it.

@paulj58132 жыл бұрын
You might want to make a modified thumb where the sides of the thumb are close to the sides of the tooth to form a shear for some of the roots.
@TheHomePros62212 жыл бұрын
Yea that would be cool I’ve actually made a bunch of modifications to this ripper since this video
@SimonCoates Жыл бұрын
If you sharpen the back of the ripper into a blade you can push it and cut through roots.

From what I've seen thus far it's way too thin and way too weak. I'd bend that using it to pull a turn plow on a small garden tractor. Just Say'n
@TheHomePros62212 жыл бұрын
It’s wayy stronger than it looks on camera I have used this thing to rip out tons of stumps and haven’t came close to bending it
