Alonzo Branson That's how they come when you order them. There's nothing handmade about this ring lol They're machine made

Where is the continuation of this video? Can you do a new video on sterling silver signet ring with detail on how to measure how much to cut off and soldering? How do you get rid of the fold bump when you are shaping the ring?

How to make a signet? Simple, you buy a blank from Cookson, with their ugly looking gold (14K I'm sure). You solder it closed and, voila, you make a signet. Just do not confuse this with goldsmithing!

Hi Dordi this video wasn’t made with the intention to offend your Goldsmithing skills it was made for people just starting out as u well know to hand make one would take at least 4 hours then I would have to edit the video after this for KZfaq my friend people want quick videos I’m not doin an online course because as u well know u have to learn one on one I think the main reason u left this comment was to look like u have far superior knowledge which you may well have. so I looked on your Channel to see what videos you made and u haven’t made any If you want to make one I can put it up on my Channel so it’ll get views (because u don’t have any content on urs) or I can share ur Channel to my followers and ur signet video Im all about learning and sharing it was very difficult to get a good apprenticeship when I went for mine and it’s even harder now and I really believe that the majority of colleges and courses I’m not fit for purpose This Chanel was made for people to dip there toe in the world of jewellery making to see if it’s for them and then find there own way There is a bad practice among craftsman online where they think they can just leave a negative comment on a video or post when in the back of there heads they think making that comment to there followers / customers they will gain there followers/ customer and it just isn’t the case The head line to this video is a hook granted I’ll put my hands up to that one and dordi my mate it is from cooksons I’ve said that in past comments and I always recommend cooksons but there is 1 thing it’s 9ct not 14ct we don’t tend to use 14ct in the uk The reason for 9ct was because it was what the customer could afford not sure if ugly is the right word but it’s your opinion I could re-title this video to how to make a signet ring on a budget but that’s a bit crap ain’t it really To be fair tho you’ve had a dig at my video and and I’ve had a dig at ur comment I don’t no if u r in London but if u r when the pubs praise God open up I would genuinely would like to buy u a beer I’m always up for a jewellery chat

@@markjeweller Okay, I see your point. I do not want to offend your skills, if you feel I do, I genuinely apologise. What I want to achieve - fruitlessly, I know - is to keep people away from all these blanks and pre-made settings and all the rest. Once you are able to make these things yourself, you will never look back. It is a freedom that cannot be bought. We - goldsmiths - should also get away from the dictum that time is money because it is absolutely incorrect. Take your time to make something. Make it over and over. Think about design. A lot of people can make utter crap perfectly well. That is not where the challenge lies. Perhaps you think otherwise, but the best advice ever given to me was: make everything yourself. That is what I am doing. My 'repertoire' is rather limited, but within these limitations I can pretty much do whatever I want.

David Lane yeah I love it it’s very old Skool not many people used them I have a traditional apprenticeship with a guy called David Marshall in London I was very luck there isn’t many workshops that teach like that
@davidlane1476 жыл бұрын
Mark Burgess There's a spare on lying around in the workshop, I might have to give it a go. My colleague says they're very good for retips and fine soldering due to the controllability?

Hi there! I'd love a hand-crafted signet ring like the one you (very professionally) made. Please could you give me a rough idea of price in 14 carat gold? (£ sterling). Thank you.
