Them all lined up at the end there is like you're pitching an animated sitcom. Mono is the straightman to the others' antics but has a dry sense of humor himself. Compliment is the the "leader" who brings them all together and instigates the plot due to being a bit of an airhead. Ana is the naive, sheltered, one who means well but doesn't always pick up what others throw down. And Splash is the lolrandom humor one that uses her attitude as a front to mask that she's lonely.

This is such a creative way to teach or refresh people on colour theory! The art is awesome as always and CONGRATS ON HITTING 2 MILLION SUBS! You were one of the original big inspirations behind my channel and I'm stoked to see your audience keeps on growing!

Having a primary/tertiary color pallet and a split complimentary for a sequel could be interesting.

I couldn’t help but think of names for them! Cammie for complimentary. Dominic (like domino) for mono. Annie for analogous. And Iris for all colors.

ight, notes on colour because I am a nerd when it comes to it: Haley mentioned that, when following these palettes, you shouldn't adhere to them too strictly. This depends on STYLE. It's kinda counter-intuitive but: Haley's style doesn't typically use a lot of strong colours. when she does, it's analagous at most and more typically monochromatic. As such, she uses a lot of desaturated tones. Now, desaturated colours all feel "closer together" compared to very colourful colours. This means that you can get away with a lot more different colours in your art when you desaturate them, because they don't clash. It also means that desaturated colours don't stand out in the same way. They're not attention-grabbing. The more you saturate your colours, the closer you have to stick to the colour palette. If you use full saturation, almost ANY colour that doesn't fit with the palette wil look weird. This means that, if you have a super bright, clean style, it's VERY hard to use anything not from the palette. Not impossible, as she talks about in the rainbow piece, but VERY hard. tl;dr: colours are fun. If your art is vibrant, stick extra closely to your palette. It's also just a fun challenge. Another thing entirely: My favourite colour palette is the split complementary palette. It combines the nice warm fuzzy feelings of the analogous with the energy and drama of the complementary. Look it up!

I think that they are different Color schemes. Monochromatic is when there is only one hue but achromatic is when there is no saturation at all. And the rainbow colour scheme is also called the polychromatic colour scheme! Nice art anyways! (I’ve been watching your videos for years now and really enjoy them)

Lavendertowne, sorry to say this but....the black and white is called Achromatic, not Monochromatic, Monochrome means one color, and Achromatic means devoid of color(black and white), but I love the characters!

It's been so long since I've seen your videos. I use to watch them all the time in college but since I entered adulthood and working full-time I stopped watching youtube and creating art. This brought me back and I felt like I was 19 again. (I'm 25 now :'0) I always loved your voice and art style. Your youtube videos hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for your content & art.

Monochrome is something i play around with a lot but i actually use it for more chaotic and intense, anxiety enducing pieces. I particularly like using very bright saturated colors that give you eye sore when looking at it for too long. Something about the way it feels fast and scary and exciting all at once is just so fun to play around with.

One of my favorite artists in regards to color is Dollightful. She’s made dolls that center on one color, and she recently made 3 rainbow dolls where one was pastel, one was normal, and one was a dark/UV type of rainbow. They’re all super cute, and she’s someone who both loves bright color but knows how to use it, which I find really appealing.

I loved how the shading of mono had such an impact to the design. Since watching your "5 Things art Teachers Hate" video years ago, I now have a palette that I'm adding colours and always going to that for my colours because I liked that you said it was helpful for colourblind people to take note of the tones in your colours.

Achromatic plus a single accent neon colour is probably my favourite, well that or rainbow neon with black alone. It’s just so intense and interesting a bit like hyper pop/ eyestrain/ glitchcore art. Like dark neon is the best (especially the horror vibe of overwhelm, often pared with candy gore)

I JUST bought procreate like half an hour ago and this came out! So perfect to help me learn it:)

Another color set is the triad, where you pick a main color and 2 of its opposites, each at different ends of the triangle. This is similar to the straight arrow of complementary, but woth an accent color essentially. Its one of my favorite methods when it comes to picking colors. The character designs are great, and I love rainbow as a little gremlin. Super cute!

My favorite color palette to work with is a combination of complementary and analogous, where I mostly use analogous and add some accents or a standout element in a complementary color.

polychromatic color schemes are always so so under rated though, they are hard to pull off but once you do, oh boy. A great way to pull all those harsh neon colors together is to either use a overlay layer (if you're working digitally) over everything else to set the mood, or to use rainbow colors that are near neon but not quite there. You can also utilize other color theory pallets while working on a piece that is overall poly chromatic by grouping together analogous colors in the same area of the canvas and using complementary colors to contrast those analogous areas. I use polychromatic color schemes in my art a bunch and I love it, it breathes so much life and wonder into the pieces.

I really think the appeal to black and white, at least for me, is how stark and violent it is. Simplistic in color, but the lack of variety brings attention to the drawing itself. Without your eyes being slightly distracted by all the different colors, you notice more about the art, and the emotions it brings are brought to the forefront, clearer. It can give so many great and different vibes. If you want an example of beautiful black and white art, I suggest you look into an indie game called OFF. It's got such beautiful and creative visuals, and the story and themes match perfectly with the colors, or lack thereof ^^

My personal favorite is having a drawing with mostly analogous colors, but then drawing the viewer’s attention to a specific spot with a splash of complementary :D
