Making Luna's Wand - from real Tulipwood!

Күн бұрынUnknown wood! So I chose tulipwood, also known as poplar, because the wand handle resembles a tulip! Not a particularly interesting wood to work with, very plain and quite soft.

Have you seen Luna’s first wand? It’s chartreuse (greenish-yellow), and it has acorn etchings, so it might be English oak.

The tulip wand is technically Luna's wand, we just never get to see the design onscreen as it was made during Deathly Hallows.

Just a suggestion but with the tulip at the end it may be a good idea to drill a pilot hole in the blank before you start turning the initial shape.

I love the art you’re putting out. It looks so much better than the resin. Heck, I think they even make real wood ones too but I believe your craftsman shipped to be above theirs at WB great work it makes me wanna get into woodworking I already like machines on a mill your videos are really starting to push me towards some woodworking on the side because I love Harry Potter as well, and always wanted to make my ownWands too

I made this one as a commission, but I made mine from Black Walnut and without a lathe. Just a knife and a dremel Took a long time. I love your edits. XD

you use what appears to be a round shafted, very narrow skew. is that custom made?

No but it wouldn't be any more accurate than my current marking out method - most of these 'round' wands aren't actually perfectly round too!

Err yes there is, also called poplar. As Luna's wanted is unknown wood I decided for that due to the tulip shape of the wand
