Its crazy how the wand you hand crafted with accurate materials looks way better. Nice work!

I don't want to be you when will come the time to make Harry's wand which is just...a branch, but with broken pieces, turning it will take 10min, carving will take days.

Really nice! The only thing that would’ve made it better was if you‘d have used an actual elder branch but it’s pretty hard to find one straight enough to give the desired effect I think.
@garricksapprentice10 күн бұрын
Not possible - elder has a really spongy pith hence I use a quarter of a branch!
@devenestes323410 күн бұрын
@@garricksapprentice ah I see! I just knew the wand is modeled to make the nodules look like the triple stemming points of the branches but I didn’t know what the wood working qualities would be like.

The black package probably contains spruce, the one you’re waiting for might be dogwood, and Horace Slughorn’s wand is, interestingly enough, made of cedar. (If you’re ever thinking of making Charlie Weasley’s current wand, my bet would be on chestnut.)
@garricksapprentice11 күн бұрын
Black package = identical match to the prop, but yes for dogwood and cedar! But which cedar tree? 😏
@ragnkja11 күн бұрын
@@garricksapprentice As long as it’s not pine, because pine chooses the long-lived, and the detailing looks far more like spruce than pine anyway.

I don’t know anything about wood staining but quite a lot about colour theory, so what would happen if you stain it twice to get the proper undertones? Since stain isn’t opaque, in my mind it might work?
