Selling footage takes a little time to adjust to, but I think Pond5 is a great avenue for selling your clips if you're just getting into it.
The main thing is that you get sales data and feedback so that you know where to focus, and what is garnering more attention.

a LOT or sales 🤘 I am in over 6000 assets in.. about 2600 videos on 17 platforms but Pond 5 is my FAV!!!! Great video bro.

Hey Olly haven't seen any updates from you for some time! How is stock going for you lately? I've had 6 sales on Pond5 so far this year 2021, 12 sales in 2020 and 1 sale in 2019 when I started there but overall it is pretty slow.

I have one sale on 3rd week for a drone shot and that's it. I have uploaded 400 clips so far for the first month. I was wondering how come my chart never show the number of view on the clips listed?

my first sale on pond5 was after 6 months with about 500 clips ... now I have almost 1200 clips online and 12 sales with earnings $ 277. this is my second year as contributor. Thanks for this video Oliver!

That seems like an insanely low amount of sales for 1200 clips... I hope that goes up. Is it worth all the time editing and uploading all those clips to get so little in return?

@@RichardSilvius thanks man. For now, I spent too much time in this work. But It's a long term game, it's early for statistics in my opinion ... anyway, it depends on quality, not quantity

I've been putting stuff on Pond5 since 2010. Due to other things going on I haven't uploaded anything in the past 3 years yet I still make money most months. Some clips sell that you'd never expect to. I've sold a clip of a rabbit in my yard chewing on a blade of grass a dozen times. You never know what people want or need for their video.

Tnx for the information shared in video :) I'm new to Pond 5 and I have some questions. Have you maybe noticed which subjects/topics goes well as animations? Is it possible to arrange your content in Pound 5 in categories like you can arrange it in Shutterstock? How to pick a tumbnail for uploaded video? What is rendering? :D

Very helpful video indeed. Thank you. I agree with you about SS being VERY picky on the technical quality of clips. So many of my clips shot carefully had been rejected on technical grounds. They seem to spot the slightest bit of noise, artifacts, and compression and reject them even when they are shot on very low ISO on a tripod. I have stopped shooting for SS with my Sony A7R3, which tends to stay with me a lot of the time. Thankfully, no rejections of clips shot on Blackmagic 6K even when shot on 3200 ISO. The other great thing about the BMPCC 6K is that when shooting in the street people are quite accepting of it as they think that I am shooting stills. Thank you for your very helpful comment about observing the Sales Data, which I hadn't noticed before.

Thank you Nishi! That's goo to know about the Black Magic camera - they seem like a really cool device for videography. I use an A7iii so there is still grain sometimes, even when I control the conditions to the best of my abilities.

@@OllyKing The colours and dynamic range of shots from BMPCC 6K is a sheer delight. Hearing raving comments on KZfaq about the colour science of Blackmagic camera didn’t mean much to me until I shot my first clip with the camera. I was blown away by the superb quality of the footage. Unfortunately, I can’t use my Sony lenses on it but thankfully I have a good collection of Canon EF L series lenses from the days when I used to film with Canon cameras. How are your clip sales going?

@@nikonfan76 Clips sales are gradually improving, but I've been doing more larger commercial jobs to keep me going, so that has taken away some of my focus from the stock sites. I am thinking of buying the Sony FX6 in the next couple years, but the Blackmagic is really tempting because it is so much less expensive - looks really cool too!

@@OllyKing FX6 would be great camera. I have a Sony Z280 with a variable ND and 17x built-in f1.9 zoom. It's a great workhorse, especially in corporate run and gun work. It all boils down to your requirements.

I have some experience on Pond5 as musician (selling stock music) but I'm really interested to start with footages....but 4K cameras are too expensive due the shortage...is there any market for Full HD footage or not? Thank you, great vid!

Yes but 4K can double your asking price.

@Temple of Sonora HD is fine if you can find a camera that will have a smooth zoom 20x is best, even better a camera that will be able to shoot slo-mo (or at least drop the frame rate low enough). Slo-mo shots are popular. And remember most iPhones and smartphones will shoot 4K video. You just are limited with what you can do compared to a camcorder, but you can still shoot good landscape/cityscape wide shots on a smartphone.👍🏼

@Temple of Sonora Don’t mention it. Love Brazil, went to Porto Velho a few years back for an assignment on the wildfires. The Nikon will get you started, but before long you’ll be wanting another lens to get more versatile. And lenses are what really costs a lot.
