The reason why you mix dry and wet ingredients seperately is because the liquid activates any rising agents (flour, baking powder, etc.) and you don’t want it to activate too early because then it’ll not rise enough or flatten once it comes out of the oven.

Matteo would definitely be having a heart attack right now with the way you measured that flour…you didn’t tap it and level it! 😂

Baking Soda in the refrigerator if opened will absorb odors. Yes flour IN the freezer IS correct, also include corn meal and nut flours like almond. The butter should brought out first and left on the counter to soften, although butter actually does not require refrigeration (not in my suburban life). The balls should be two inches apart and flattened before baking unless you like the rounded camel hump shapes. The wrap up was the winner for me : l made it look more chaotic .... isn't Christmas baking about the chaos? Happy Holidays Nick

Way too relatable - I'm also an unrepentant eyeballer! Which is why I've come to accept that it's better for everyone if I don't bake 😂 But honestly, I think it's a better way to approach just about any other kind of cooking, rather than feeling like you have to 100% follow a recipe that was written to suit someone else's tastes. Cooking is way more fun when you can really make a dish your own... and having to eat the result of your choices is a good way to sharpen up those eyeballs, haha

I make these at Christmas too, we call them Angeliones. For our icing, we combine anisette liquor with powdered sugar until it's a drizzle consistency and use that instead, then sprinkle little round sprinkles on top. :)
