This is wonderful, as I cannot find vellum paper in the craft shop any more! I've never heard of an Airing Cupboard before. What is it? I'm in Canada, and we don't have such things as airing cupboards, I don't think. I may try this method. Thanks for sharing! ~Janet in Canada

It's where the boiler lives in older houses and you keep your linens and clean towels etc in there on wooden shelves.

does the oil actually dry or does the paper feel slippy? looks great

yes I have used Glossy Accents as it does even if the paper is still a bit oily but am sure that there are other glues will try out the heavy gels as am sure that they would be just as god

Are there cotton fibers left on the paper after taking the excess oil off?
@craftedbynorma72243 жыл бұрын
no as i have used photo copy paper - just printed out an image and then added the oil and wiped away any excess so no fibers left hope this helps
@classiccarsclassicrock94333 жыл бұрын
I saw this on another channel and made such beautiful sheets from copy paper. Unfortunately, after drying and about a week the oil smell was so strong, I could not use them. Any ideas on how to help that? The papers you did are beautiful. It is such a great idea, but mine did not work well.
@craftedbynorma72243 жыл бұрын
sorry to hear that you had problems - could be the oil that you used?? too much oil ?? I used vegetable oil which has been warmed slightly and then rub of as much excess as possible (does take awhile :( though) hope you have better luck next time
@classiccarsclassicrock94333 жыл бұрын
@@craftedbynorma7224 Thank you. I did use vegetable oil. I did rub the excess for quite awhile. I will see what happens and try again.
@elitesflowers-floristshop.36163 жыл бұрын
@@classiccarsclassicrock9433 have you tried by ironing the paper? I remember when my mother used to do batik and she cover the fabric with other piece of fabric and ironed out so she can remove the excess of wax. If you will try, please let me know about the results. Also, I saw others persons using paraffin for this technique.
@DeerheartStudioArts3 жыл бұрын
photo copy paper? is that something different than copy paper? It looks thinner that any photo paper I’ve used.
@craftedbynorma72243 жыл бұрын
it is the same as copy paper just a light weight paper but am sure it should work with most papers just means that a heavy paper will take more oil hope this helps Norma

@Gilda Lo Cascio, Ciao!

I tried this technique and liked what I saw but it seems that the oil transfers to other paper even after removing excess oil. I'm using talc to remove as much oil as possible. Anyone with a better idea? One more thing, I used coconut oil which might be the problem.
@craftedbynorma72243 жыл бұрын
yes the problem may be you using coconut oil as I have always used cooking oil and not had this problem. Good idea though to use talc to absorb excess oil.
@deniseb-g34753 жыл бұрын
Claudia, I did this a couple of years ago and left the papers in a ziplock bag for a few weeks and they seemed to absorb all the oil. I think next time I’ll put some dry papers in the bag with them. Or maybe put an oiled sheet between 2 plain sheets and iron?
