Premiere Pro's Markers are very useful when you need to remember something on the Timeline or in a clip. It's also useful to export out a detailed list of all your markers including thumbnails.

Hi. I have v 15.4. And every time I press M for marker in the marker list I have like 2 or more markers. I don't understand why that happens. Sometimes it could be 10 but on time line there is only one marker placed. and if I delete one of those 10, they disappear all. I do not understand whether it is a malfunction or it is how it should be. I prone to think that it is a bug. Would be grateful to hear your opinion. Thx

Hello. I have the same question as Matthew -- I have clip markers and I want to 1) be able to see a list of all the clip markers in the Markers Panel (just like you can with the sequence markers) and 2) be able to click on one of the listed markers in the Markers Panel and have it navigate me to the correlating place in the timeline. I am able to do both of these actions very easily and intuitively when dealing with sequence markers. But when dealing with clip markers, it is awkward.

Ora DeKornfeld Hi Ora, It's Spring 2017 and I still don't see how I can access both the sequence and clip markers in the Markers Panel. Did Adobe actually implement that change? It only seems to recognize and export sequence markers. Am I missing something?

Hi Colin, That link above to the other tutorial did help me to find out how to turn on all the clips markers in the marker panel. I still cannot export ALL the clip markers in my sequence (vs. markers on only one clip). If I activate the markers panel, my sequence with the clip markers or the sequence icon in the Project Panel, the Markers option in the dropdown in Export is still dimmed out. Do you know if it's possible to export ALL clip markers from a sequence? I thought I had figured it out on a previous project, but now can't recall how I did it.

Can you please tell me how make a web link. in Adobes Classroom in a book it says Web Link: A special kind of marker that supported video formats such as QuickTime can use to automatically open a web page while the video plays.
@VideoRevealed
@VideoRevealed 8 жыл бұрын
+john erwin - That feature, along with anything that isn't a comment, is a very old feature. You have to embed the QuickTime movie in a webpage *and* guarantee that the QuickTime player plug-in plays it back. Back in the old days, that was pretty much a guarantee but not anymore. I haven't tried this in over 15 years and I'd be surprized if it did work. There are much better, and more modern ways, to create that type of interaction in a webpage. We all come across that today in the form of "popup windows", but you know as well as I do, most people shut them off.

Colin; I know this video is a 5 years old, but I have a question - KZfaq started allowing markers in their timeline; apparently you put it in your description, but it has to start with timecode 00:00 - The text you want, and then KZfaq adds them to the timeline for you. Question is, can you export makers from Premiere to make this process easy or has Adobe updated the software so when you publish from Premier, it adds that your description for you so this new feature works?

Premiere Pro Markers have no relationship to KZfaq markers. I would be a good idea though.

@@VideoRevealed I understand they don't directly Map... I was hoping there was an export method that would create a text file that one could at least paste in manualy... I have to find a way to suggest that to them I guess.

Indeed, very helpful, as always. Do you know how to create Chapters for Adobe Premiere pro cc 2021 H264 1080HD video exports? The same way you add timestamps to youtube, so the chapters are visible to viewers, and they can skip those parts. This would be for an interview, and we want a visible segment for each new question (again, not for youtube, just the video itself).
@VideoRevealed
@VideoRevealed 2 жыл бұрын
KZfaq chapters are not in the video, they are stored on their server. There is no standard for adding chapters inside H.264 files so you have to add them later.

@@VideoRevealed Indeed. And as this video is not meant to go on youtube, we are looking for similar markers but to mark WITHIN the exported H264 /mp4 video. @VideoRevealed
@VideoRevealed 7 жыл бұрын
There must be some stray clip or graphic sitting at the 6:16 mark for that to happen. I'd zoom out to see the complete Timeline and see if you can find it and delete it. You can also go to the 4:16 mark, and use the Select Forward tool to select everything after that point, then hit the Delete key. If that doesn't work, just move to the end of your Timeline and press the O key to set an out point then export what's within the In and Out points.

If the option is checked, the system behaves as you described in your tutorial. BTW, the 2018 edition also has an option to show clip markers and sequence markers, both. You had a comment on this issue in your tutorial and it looks like the designers have heard you (unless, of course, I misunderstood your statement). Thank you very much for your tutorials. Yours is one of the two channels that has taught me whatever I know about Premiere Pro.

I do have an updated Marker tutorial: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rNaal7B_sM7Pgp8.html The Sequence Timecode option is strictly there to show the Marker time as the Sequence time (which can start at non-zero values). It has nothing to do with your issue; I just tested it on and off and clicking on the Marker thumbnail always advances to that point in the Timeline for me.

Colin, I am impressed that you are continuing this dialogue with no benefit to you. Here is a short video describing my situation: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a72XeNWprqnVk3k.html

What you are showing are Clip Markers, not Sequence Markers. The behaviour is expected. Clip Markers do not have any reference to the time in the Sequence, but turning on the Sequence Timecode option, "connects" the Clip Markers to the Sequence Markers. I hope that makes sense.

Hey Colin, did you actually edited the Waiting for Lightning??
@VideoRevealed
@VideoRevealed 6 жыл бұрын
No I didn't, the editor was Carol Martin. Adobe featured the movie in demos when the movie was released and that's why I have the footage.

Markers in PP are not very useful for me, I almost never use them. Takes to much time. You have to press M, then then double click the marker (or the marker in the marker-panel), type its name and manually change the length to see it in the timeline. Sony Vegas has a much faster way to organize the timeline and (just press M and directly type the name which will always show up). I miss it here.

Hello, how can I import my markers?
@VideoRevealed
@VideoRevealed 3 жыл бұрын
Clip markers can be stored outside the Project and will stay with the clips when you import them. Here's a tutorial: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sNF7hZik1bmpo2Q.html Sequence markers only make sense in the Sequence they're in so importing them is not useful.

There is something missing with these markers; why can't I drag and drop the in and out timecodes of the markers as a dang clip? Why have all this overview when the marker timecodes can't be extracted from the source as a clip xD
@VideoRevealed

I don't follow your question but Markers only work as Markers, not as IN and OUT points for clips.

@@VideoRevealed Hi thank you for your response. It will be difficult to word this but here goes. For example, on a 30min interview clip I have around 30 clip markers with in and out points, and with comments added so I know the content of the markers. When I click on a marker in the marker window, it shows me the marker located on the clip (source) file. Now, it would be absolutely magical if you could simply also click on the marker with in and out timecodes and simply drag and drop this on a timeline sequence. Why? Because an interview clip is a lot of times not chronologically placed in the sequence and final film, it is a puzzle. This puzzle can easily be constructed if markers in and out points can act like sub-in and out points of a clip, because the comments on the content of said marker points give great overview, and simply scrolling through the personalized marker comments safes a lot of time compared to scrolling back and forth in a clip or compared to moving inserted subclips constantly in the timeline. Subclipping does not grant making comments or assigning colours to those subclips, so markers should become this. Hope this is clear.

Thanks a lot for these tips, I will use them. But for a professional video - your audio is wayyyyyy tooo low.... so that makes me not trust your tips as professional that much. Still, thanks, I got some new stuff from this video. But yeah, push up the volume.
