Someone saying "I'm going to show you a trick you've never seen before" is basically never going to pay off, and undoubtedly you'll feel you've been click-baited, but not with Collin, this video is excellent, and devoid of any gimmicks. Keep up the excellent work!

SO true. 30 seconds in I was cheering with the "Q & W" edit. Been editing in Premiere for 12 yrs and never knew that. For b-roll this is GOLD. Then again, at the end of the video--with the switch clips trick. WOW.

Hi Colin. I have a project I am working on. It doesn't have much to do with this video here. And it's rather complicated and technical. Is there a way for me to send you a message and example of what I'm trying to do? Sorry to post this on this particular video. Thank you.

Ripple edit/delete is life.I got into editing with Final Cut ProX which has all those features as stock standard, but from memory, it was hard to leave intentional gaps. Nice to see premiere allows both editing methods easily. Just the features I was looking for.

Collin, you are the best. I went to school for digital video production, got a job editing weddings and small corporate jobs but on Edius, and recently landed a position working for another company that does weddings. I hadn't used Premier since college or every now and then. In one day I'm utilizing it and customizing it very proficiently because of your videos. Thanks so much for these great uploads!

Yep great tips as usual... no attitude or BS... I like it that way. Drop a whole folder into a sequence. Some people will think that you don't need editors.. No mouse movements just keyboard functions... Reminds me of my Grass Valley Editing days. Who had a mouse.??? Yes you cannot ripple something that is still linked. The tool toggle only is disabling the complete clip selection not delinking the elements of that media. What you leave a gap.. What you really need is a "magnetic timeline" that does all that for you young Colin... I shake my head in dismay...Always hated that function in FC 10... But I actually think they created the Mag Timeline because people got frustrated and left in flash frames of black. 99 percent of pros never had a problem but the - last week students this week professional editors always did that- I could have made a living on fixing people's timelines if they only did not invent the magnetic timeline... boo hoo. I digress. There is one trick you did not show .... it actually comes from AE... Option replace a shot.

My fave is the Option replace that allows you to replace elements in AE AND Premiere . Simple way to sub out a shot in Premiere or element in AE with the Option (Mac) key . I do wish there were similar short cuts between AE and Premiere. Like command D for duplicate does work in AE but not in Premiere.

Great tutorial. Definitely following your channel. I'm a new user of Premiere, only one week but gained a huge deal from this - cut, copy and paste......i know the tips are simple if you know but when you don't it's a game changer! On things a bit quirky with my use of the final edit tip. I'm a windows user and I use control + alt but instead of swapping the clips it just places the selected clip in the position without overwriting, but doesn't swap just shifts to right. So here's my workflow: highlight clip - press control and alt together - whilst keeping keys pressed down use LMB to drag highlighted clip over target clip that i want to swap with - release LMB

I remember old Ulead Media Studio, it had very nice developed GAP FIND feature. It showed a list of audio and video gaps in a table, by clicking on one of them you jumped to the particular gap. There were two switches were to find, one for all Audio tracks and the second one for Video tracks. Switching ON both of them it found a gap without audio and video part. If the only video was selected, then a gap with audio but without video was found. As I understand Premiere can search thru the whole project or only thru a selected track. It does not support to search only in videos or audios.
