As much as I like 6010, 7010, and 8010, our world was built with 7018 LoHi. Great job Greg, I enjoyed it immensely.

Great. Really looking forward to seeing the comparative strength when bevelled.Truly instructive.

Just like your others, this is a great series!! Looking forward to the next installment. 🙂 As always, thanks for sharing these videos and knowledge!

Great work! I would love to see some flux core wire reviews. Amazon has Blue Demon & PGN E71T-11 wire that has great reviews. It costs half what the Lincoln wire costs. I elect you to give us the low down on this wire. Thanks. Keep up the good work

I just tested a blue demon dual shield .035 wire (video will be out soon) and i may have their t-11 (I will look). I will be strength testing a bunch of flux core welds to get a better idea of how they work 😀

Thanks for test ans explanation!

That was a huge difference with a flux core wire and 7018 rods, superb demonstration, thank you! 👍 I think I heard that 1/16” gap on filet weld is permissible even on tests, at least at welding school, wouldn't it be more useful than a bevel with only root pass?

You’re welcome 😀. A gap on a fillet weld will likely increase some penetration. I will have to test a gap and bevel against one another to see the results 😀.

@@makingmistakeswithgreg That would be great addition to this series of tests 👍

Least favorite rod after struggling with them in school. But I run a lot of 6011 at ranches

I struggled with 6010 in school too, but the instructor never mentioned move at 2/3rd the speed of a 7018 and use 40% more rod per inch of weld lol. It’s a useful rod for specific circumstances, but many other rods are far easier to run (and easier to clean it up lol).

I’m enjoying this video series. Would preheating the metal increase the penetration and performance of the MIG and flux core welds tested previously?
@makingmistakeswithgreg9 ай бұрын
Absolutely it would. I will have the video on that next week to compare the strength to see what differences it produces. 😀

I'm thinking 3/32 red rod root. 1/8 7018 cover. Wonder what that would make a difference. Awesome video mate. Bsafe.

I will be doing multi pass welds and testing the strength 😀.
