Out of all the reviews on KZfaq, this is the only one that effectively compares and shows the difference in noise levels between this oil impulse driver and its conventional counterpart. Well done 👍🏻

This review was top notch, thank you very much! The dewalt impacts become excruciatingly loud after they become used. I'd probably grab the soft impact, not too common I drive 14" GRK fasteners into timber, and you can just grab the nut buster for that.

It will be great when they come out with an impact driver like this for mechanics where you can dial in the exact torque you need and it will torque bolts up to that torque. Like a fast torque wrench.

I've actually found a good powerful drill driver to be faster than my impact with lag bolts. I was wall mounting a TV and my drill was probably twice as fast as my impact. I still love my impact driver for Phillips screws as it really helps resist caming out.
@SkillBuilder
@SkillBuilder 6 жыл бұрын
Oh Chris you stole our thunder. We have made that point in our comparison which is coming up soon. The impact driver is smaller and easier to use but when it comes to speed even the best of them are not as fast as a good drill.

Would this guide be useful with this new information I haven't understood before? www.its.co.uk/blog/buying-guides/makita-drill-2018-edition/ I meant to say, could a home gamer get by with a drill (with care taken on Philips)? Makita LXD is in a way overkill but as one just looking to "buy and cry once" in one manufacturer/brand of cordless system I think this is a more responsible way of consuming..

Frankly, for galvanized lag screws I much prefer using a strong drill/driver. An impact drill causes quite a bit of damage to the coating.

Simple fix with the 'one touch chuck'..... buy the Makita XDT12 from the States. Same as the Makita DTD170 but for some reason the Americans get the better chuck. Be warned though, the Japanese imports you see on eBay have a 'one touch chuck' but over there the 1/4" bits are made longer and our bit holders will have a lot of end play. I can't understand why Makita make 3 different versions all have 'made in Japan' stamped on the casings. Maybe Roger you can find out why the USA get the better chuck and it's not just the DTD170 that is missing out, all the American Makita impact drivers have the 'one touch chuck'. Seems that the UK / European customers are being sold an inferior machine!!😤
@SkillBuilder
@SkillBuilder 6 жыл бұрын
I will find out. I don't speak Japanese but I will watch their body language
@SkillBuilder
@SkillBuilder 6 жыл бұрын
This is from Makita U.K in Japan A very interesting question on the one touch chuck. Having gone right back to Makita Japan we are told that it was offered to Europe previously but that customer’s response was negative. "The ‘inferior’ comment is unjustified and because every Makita tool, regardless of the range it sits within, is manufactured to the same exemplary standards as you would expect from this global brand. Equally, customers make their choice of specification to best suit their operations." So that is their answer. Do you think you might have hurt their feeling? I would say that if they only offer one chuck or bit holder in a certain market there is no real choice, unless you chose another brand. I would be interested to hear from everyone who reads this whether they like the one touch or not. I can't see any drawbacks so I am not sure who said they didn't like it.
@addnet4
@addnet4 6 жыл бұрын
From personal experience the 'one touch chuck' is the way forward. More and more of Makita's competitors are using this chuck, so maybe its time for them to have a rethink. Surly they wouldn't want to start loosing sales just because someone said the UK market didn't want that feature, I really can't see any negatives against the 'one touch chuck'. I wouldn't buy another impact driver without it, it's so much quicker just push the bits in, no more fumbling about with two hands.
