The problem is malays take their privileges for granted and that effect their growth. So in my honest opinion as a malay this bumiputra privileges should abolished so that we can compete with our brothers and sisters from other races like chinese and indian without any superior feeling. To those who is saying that it is constitutional agreement, all this agreement is created by human so its not a sin to change it even in al quran clearly stated that all humans should be treated equally without any partiality regardless of their beliefs.

Malay/bumiputera privileges?? Not all of us Malays actually take it for granted. What does Bumiputera status actually grants me? I got straight A's during PMR yet I have to send tons of surat rayuan, begging to enter MRSM/SBP. Got good SPM result yet never received scholarship..similar situation when I apply for jobs..I fight fair and square as any other races..My families and friends also face similar things.. We struggles as any other races..so 'malay/bumiputera privilege' is bullshit!

"Even the Malays themselves feel that they do not need the Malay rights, they can stand on their own." Well said. It's not the race that determines if one needs help, it's their status. If one is in poverty, he/she deserves the help, no matter what race he/she is. Malaysians finally understand this is merely a tool to divide and rule. Congrats to the all Malaysian for setting a great example of democratic country today.

What this video failed to mention is how the malay is left behind even after the british left especially in economy based on split and govern tactic which led to the hugr economy gap between races. Even after the independence, there's still a lot of malay people left behind and this privilege does help them a lot but still not enough to cover all the malay's economy yet

OK I'm not saying that race is visible and centre stage in every conversation in Malaysia. However, this report is very simplistic and sort of boxed in the conversation into its stereotypes. The racial and the rural - urban divide is a lot more complex, and are mired in decades of psychological indoctrination by BN.

Malaysia after BN would be interesting to watch. My relatives in Georgetown and Ipoh just celebrated their biggest early Christmas gift. Still. many have to be taken into account, whether Pakatan Harapan would hold up their first term, those including maintaining their alliance, preventing over reliance on ethnic-based electabilities, cleaning off 1MDB, prosecute Najib n cronies, improving economics, and amend those Malay First policy. The latter would be the most difficult as it is the most sensitive issue for majority of Malays, esp. in rural, hard BN territories, PAS voters, and inside PPBM itself. The biggest concern in the near future is whether Anwar is able to replace the character of Mahathir after he retires as he said.

Just see their neighbor Singapore, how far they have gone with another model and you can see that its not working anymore.

You can see from the comments here that Malaysians are still very divided over race and religion. Institutionalized racism is huge here but sadly not as covered as well as apartheid in South Africa. Minorities continued to be spat on. In any argument, you will find the other guy’s race being questioned even before he is allowed to debate.

What pack of lies. The idea of "Malay Supremacy" was already in the works far before the British demanded that the minorities in Malaya were given citizenship before a racial revolt happened and destabilised the peninsula. The Malays have always heralded the idea that they were the "superior race" and that they had the "unchallenged right" to dominance over the other races in Malaya. Also, making the argument that just because you make deals under duress, automatically legitimising the unjust premises, does not legitimise discrimination. If that were the case, it would grant the Jews dominance over the Arabs in Israel/Palestine and the White over the Blacks in South Africa under the Apartheid System.

RZZ nn. Your argument here is centered around the testimonies of racism towards expats living in Malaysia/Singapore. While, racism is a profound reality in both countries your argument is still flawed. These pieces of evidence that you quote are from a foreign perspective, with the key point being foreign. Racism towards foreigners are obviously more evident cause that is what they are, they are foreign. There will definitely be some discomfort when with them in both countries. The issue here is internal racism between *locals* in Malaysia. I won't deny that S'pore has its own problems regarding race, but the fact is, whether you like it or not, it is way more prominent in Malaysia and is publicly abused by the administrative power. P.S. I happen to follow a good number of expats living in Singapore in Malaysia, however their complaint are more focused on matters that concern their wants and the lack of Western ideologies in effect in Msia and S'pore. For example issues like the practices of anti-LGBT, capital punishment, long work hours and so on.

It's time to reconstruct these run down kampongs still using well water and buckets toilet systems instead of providing better living conditions. Mr Lee Kuan Yew, hope you are above blessing Malaysia to be a better country. This is the country that you wanted to make it succeed and those are the people that you want to defend for, the Malaysian's Malaysia. You shed tears of sadness when you chose to give up fighting for the minorities. Not once, but multiple times until Dr Toh Chin Chye have to stop you from recording and ask you to go home to rest. Many people many not know this, but think that you shed crocodile tears. Maybe it's because you wanted to protect your own family so you decided not to continue to fight for us, so that you do not have to go in the jail with your comrades YB Lim Kit Siang and YB Karpal Singh among others, it isn't an obligation for you to do so, but we really hope you did. If you did, you may have successfully created a Malaysian's Malaysia instead of a smaller version, a Singaporean's Singapore. If you really do succeed, you would have Lead the PAP and those in the DAP as the cabinet members and members of the Dewan Rakyat, dewan undangan negeri instead of the smaller, Parliament of Singapore. You would have been the Perdana Mentri of Malaysia, with Ministers, YB Lim Kit Siang, YB Karpal Singh, YB Devan Nair (3rd President of Singapore), MP Dr Toh Chin Chye, MP Dr Goh Keng Swee and many others. Mr Lee, we hope the you bless other your legacy, the Democratic Action Party together with their Comrades in the PH to make a change for Malaysia, like how you wanted it to be. We know that you can't save all of us, but you still try, after you built up Singapore. You accept more of those you wanted to save, with a lower criteria into your embosom. But there are still many of them still in Malaysia, who need you to save even as you have rise up to the heavens. Please also save your son from committing to inreversible actions that can destroy those that you have built with your team. Hope you reincarnate and make another miracle happen again.

Rainbow Magic Huurmm....,so what are you trying to say? You want chinese rule the nation and they must doing the same thing like umno did? Hah? And we all will hate each other even more? Third world mind aahh?? Like what? Singaporean arrogant kiasu tourists that demand price to be lower down or didnt want to pay for service when they come to Malaysia? Is that first world country? Oohh.... you are from Singapore,tell me how good your knowledge about Malaysia other than some biased sources and informations. And do you know how those non-bumiputras become successful in their bussines? Do you really know what bumiputras mean? It not just about malay,its also about aboriginals and natives yet you guys want bumiputras rights on their own land to be abolish. Local government already offer the aid and opportunity for all malaysian in agricultural,small and medium industries.For anybody,but must have paperwork and prove so it is not a fraud. Who grab the opportunity then he will strike first . Well you are right,chinese are the one who grab the opportunity and being followed by malay at second place. But i agreed that it a bit unfair toward minorities include minorites bumiputras when they try to apply jobs in government sector since it most of those were filled by the malays. All this racial joke already,tired seeing malay try to dominate,chinese try to dominate,indian with their nasty words. Just keep all those for yourself.

Rainbow Magic LKY is a closet racist and a self-centred douchebag. I’m glad the old bastard is dead and probably in hell right now due to his actions. Imagine living in his tenure where Media was heavily controlled by the government. Freedom of press was basically a myth in SG and pretty much still is today. Coming from a “first world” country, that’s pretty sad. With cost of living gradually increasing in your so called “utopian” nation, i would rather live comfortably without being heavily dependent on money. Maybe that’s why your people are so egoistic and miserable. Don’t be so proud of your little island as you people still get most of your water from the Johor river.

Democratic? Is that what you said? Err... China isn't democratic and it is.... not really prosperous and is not really going to buy up Malaysia, their people are suffering in the tight media control... how sad. But hey, Taiwan is so democratic, one of the most democratic country and OMG!!! Taiwan is so rich!!!! They have US as their backing!!! Woohooo Taiwan so democratic but the people are so rich and they do not have to go overseas to ask people to hire them!!!!

Some people in this sea of comments clearly have backward thinking. Talking about bumiputras rights, constitution agreement, race based biased policies etc, fyi we live in 2018 now not 1908. Constitutions and Laws arent supposed to be a taboo or have the immunity from being adjusted to suit the flow of changes, they can and should be rewritten according to the time and needs of a country. An absurd and unfair agreement from decades ago cannot possibly be suited in our time now because we humans are much more developed now in terms of moral atleast. The african blacks would still be slaves if according to the so called agreement which essentially is an apartheid system. You dont think the islamic law should still be enforced today, do you ? You dont think that male muslim (or anyone of any religion )should have the right to multiple wives, do you?Dont be outdated and closed minded. If you truly wish malaysia to be great, leave the outdated thinking, think for the sake of all your countrymen, instead of holding on to your privileges.
@azeirfzihw536

Kelvin Lim actually islamic law exactly should be enforced..that's what PAS fighting for...second, Muslim males are indeed can have 4 wives..In Malaysia also can..it's just a choice..still allowed and valid
@kotgggg
@kotgggg 6 жыл бұрын
Azeirf Zihw Explain why it should be enforced. How will the Islamic law benefits all Malaysian? How will the Islamic law be suitable to our time and needs now? The Islamic law is an outdated primitive law that is in no way comparable to the modern law. Even the modern law we have now is far from perfect. That's why PAS will never win because only a small group of extremely conservative Muslim like you sir support it. And polygamy is outright savage in today's standard. And any law that supports polygamy is hence unusable today.
@kotgggg
@kotgggg 6 жыл бұрын
Azeirf Zihw Plus if you support the law that allows a husband to have four wives, then you should support to pass the law to allow a wife to have four husbands. Does it sound absurd? Be fair and don't be gender bias. Women are not one level lower than us man.
@azeirfzihw536
@azeirfzihw536 6 жыл бұрын
Kelvin Lim Firstly, u absolutely have no idea how Islamic Law is...Islamic law is not the law that made up by human being..but it's what written in Quran..that means God tells us to do that law and that means it is periodless and limitless...and if u study about Islamic law deeply and understand it well...it's so beautiful and can see what the silver lining behind it..It's the God order to us(His servants)..so we can't disobey His order..and if it's been done in Malaysia..It just for muslim..so for non-muslim..u just chill ur ass up okay...Secondly..for man that can have 4 wives...yes,it's allowed and valid..it's written in Quran that man can have 4 wives but women can't..and it's still valid in Malaysia and all Islamic country...but it's written in Quran also that u cannot marry more than one wife if u think u cannot be fair with them..but if u think u can be fair,u r allowed....And do u know nowadays female population outnumbered male population?...Islam is the only religion that has the solution for it and yes the solution is that Man can have more than one wife...okay regarding u said about why Woman can't have 4 husband...You read this carefully ok..first n foremost, THE GOD FORBIDS IT..and secondly, just think with logic..If Man married 4 wives at the same time..we can know surely who is the father n mother of the child..but let's imagine if woman married 4 husband at the same time and give birth the child..yeah we can surely know the mother of the baby but can u know surely who's the baby's father?

This is the New Malaysian Dilemma. Years of Mahathir’s Ketuanan Melayu (Malay Supremacy)has really made the Malays ,generally, useless bums,more so with Anwar’s Islamisation created a generation of unemployable Malays,which makes them all easy prey to Najib’s “You help me,I help you “ money for votes politics. (That’s why as President of UMNO, his job is to raise as much money as he can by whatever means to ‘buy’ votes....what a ‘serious crime’ Muyhideen committed for pretending not to know, to explain his sacking)So, more than ever, the Malays NEED their privileges to “rob,rape and ravage” the Chinese (ask Robert Kuok) for survival and so the racial politics will go on and on till ,one day, the Malays say we will all WORK ,like others, for our living.(The above is very generalized because there is all the while a small group of Malays who sees the farce of Ketuanan Melayu and never used it to work for their own living)

There is no races, it is a word for people who hates people with different colour. What I see this world is this world is full of evolved (Homo Saipens) The only reason why we dislike BN is not because of races it is the person ruling. You see to be a ruler one need to respect other before they respect you but giving money out and buying respect for their support is like giving food to an animal and telling them if you follow me I will give you more and that is what I hate about it. We are humans, we don't want our OUR country to be called (Ruled Kleptocrazy). You know Mahathir was once from BN/Umno? That means he knows what he had done and apologize. An apologize is better than nothing. -No need to reply as I won't reply to people who wants money more than OUR future
