Pretty much my thoughts on it. Female feels better for Darkside, Male for Gray/Light (More Imperialistic).

Female is by far better, more cunning and with more character. Male is very monotone and emotionless. Both have merit to the charecter but I'm more drawn to the female.

Also I love the male resorting to trolling the opposition... although I don't know which pulls off "Murder and Mayhem await." and "I'm not cute, I'm deadly." better.

It's reason why I love male voice. Because of it's calmer voice. He doesn't need to raise his voice when he can just shoot lightning xD

@@Hk-ox4bb she was buying recording equipment from me to work from home, and I asked her what kind of voice overs she does and she was like "I do the villain in a star wars video game" and then she seemed genuinely surprised that I had heard of it, as if Star Wars is some indie franchise, which was hilarious. But yeah, she's super friendly and her humor is very British.

Kind of why I lik Male voice for Light Side Inq. Light side Inq has been more about strengthing the Empire and building connections to strengthing him or her self so the planning and duplicitous voice fits well.

Totally agree there man. Though I find the male seems bored sometimes when he speaks where as the female will seem bloodthristy or excited. Why I love to have assassin's as females and sorcerers as males. Feel the voice fits the style of the advanced class perfectly

My problem with the male voice sounding manipulative is that he sounds like a over-the-top manipulative schemer who should never be trusted.

I call it "Commander Shepard syndrome". Was the exact same case in Mass Effect. Male shepard is very calm and stoic thanks to Mark Meers voice acting. Jen Hale on the other hand made female Shepard very expressive and showed way more emotion. For an example of how Female Shepard acts and sounds, just play the Female Trooper in this. Jen Hale also voiced her and is essentially just doing her Shepard voice.

To me the male seems more calm and reserved in most situations, a quiet sadistic streak , while the female has a more whimsical, agitated, and unhinged tone to it. I'd dare say it leads to them almost being two different characters even with the same dialogue.

I feel like with most classes, each voice actor is better for one of the advanced classes. I like the male for assassin and female for sorcerer.

I am going to say male. But its a very close call. Both voices are very good.

The male inquisitor sounds like someone who would be sitting in a war room with the other council members plotting his next devious act. The female one sounds like someone who wants to personally torture the war captives herself. Personally I like the male one more cause you put a helmet voice effect on it and he sounds like a deceiving mastermind planning my downfall.

@@xelbrick i haven't personally noticed that. But one thing I notice is the evolution of the tone and line delivery in the Vanilla game. As a slave the tone is a bit more quiet and someone new and a bit nervous, at the end of the vanilla game it sounds like a complete puppet master it was great work my favorite voice in the game

@@adriltythorin6702 To be fair, it is fairly easy to understand that once you give it a thought. Let's face it. It's not so much a role in the traditional sense of the word. There is no playing of the other actors in a dialogue. I know I would get bored with a character that does not necessarily develops/grows, etc. The actress may have just felt like "Oh, it's a job - let's just get it over with". Or I might be wrong and the bored, disinterested voice was intentional. I find it hard to believe though. To build upon my point. Consider Valkorion's voice actor. A much more of a role. There is an arc to the character, a sense of journey. Another example: female trooper vs Satele Shan - the latter voice is just better. Or yet another, Darth Baras or Darth Malgus. Or even Vette. I don't know; part of the issue is in the customization itself. Compare SWTOR to Witcher 3. The fact that the player character is established and you cannot play a female Geralt, makes it easier to anchor the dialogue in the reality of the narrative experience. AC Odyssey has the same problem with the "double" protagonist. In a way, forced "diversity" makes for a poorer narrative, because it removes the part of the consequences. For SWTOR I would go, for example: Sith Inquisitor: Female (more sense for Zash, Andronikos romance, then dump him for Lana, gear towards Darth Nox or more subtle - Palpatine style Sith) Sith Warrior: Male (triangle with Vette and apprentice, kill Baras, gear towards Neutral with branching options) Jedi Knight: Female (a fight to walk the light through the trauma of the war, options to go full dark side or full light; her story could end by either becoming the grand master once Satele dies, or killing Satele (DS path) and planting corruption in the Jedi order. J. Consular: Male (as above, just played from a different angle - as he grows in power - have him more pulled to the dark side. Agent:Female (sex, corruption, stronger ties with the Chiss, strong trauma of leading a double life). Smuggler: Male (go full Han Solo - isn't that the point of this character?) etc. And then, in the expansions, have the NPCs reflect your character's identity, choices and so on. Disclaimer: This is just an opinion. Feel free to agree/disagree - let's just keep it civil and not go into politics. The purpose of the post was to discuss the narrative and how the nature of the custumization affects it (you may think it does not - feel free to prove me wrong).

That's is very true. I loved my Fem inquisitor, but she is noticably worse in KOTFE and KOTET
