Ever since I played the ending of Halo 3, I've been haunted by the thought of Cortana all alone on the ship for many years. When Halo 4 trailers revealed that it was a difficult time for her because of the rampancy AI's experience after a certain time in service, I really wanted to make a tribute song about that. She is one of my favorite characters in video games. :)
I feel really attached to the music from previous Halo games, composed by the awesome Marty O'Donnell, so it was fun trying build the tribute around that.

The nods to the main theme and music cues, the guitar riff, the piano blink at the end, the vocals and the attention to detail feel like Halo, it's sad, it's hopeful, it's breathtaking, it's heartbreaking, it's everything Halo was even these years later

After Halo 4, this song hurts my heart. After Halo 5, this song brings back memories of a time long past. After Halo Infinite, this song makes my heart hurt again, but with more bittersweet memories that I will never forget. I'm surprised I never heard this song before a few days ago, but it's already one of my favorite songs about Halo I've heard in my many years of loving these games.

That melody from 'Never Forget' is as memorable and moving as some of the best pieces ever written: Thomas Tallis' third tune, Moonlight sonata, Leyla, etc. etc. Sadly, it was written for a computer game, so it's not considered a serious piece of art by anyone who's not a gamer.

Yeah, one thing that I quite enjoyed with the Halo series, at least Halos 1-4, Master Chief and Cortana completing each other, or at least accentuating one another. Chief was your super soldier that probably didn't have much of a life beyond combat and killing, then you have Cortana that was human-like.

I have rarely found a song that hits my situation so deeply that I sat in front of the screen with tears in my eyes. it's just a game that the song is about, but the text can be transferred 1 to 1 to my situation. Cortana is my wife, who was longingly waiting for my return from the "frozen sleep", which I associate with the depression I have suffered from for the past six years. unfortunately it took too long and too much broke in my wife during the time of "being alone" ... so she left me and we will probably no longer find each other. I was also her sword and shield, but that alone was not enough! This is probably the end of 18 years of relationship! Really hard! Thanks for this song that helped me process so much! Malukah, you have a beautiful, intense voice. Thanks very much!

Yeah. The ending to 3 was epic. Bringing it all back may have made for fun games, but bringing Spartans back wasn't smart in my opinion, and there is no way to ever capture the epic feelings the original 3 brought, especially the ending monument to the sacrifices made by Master Chief and Cortana.

This song rips my heart out. Cortana's ending starting in Halo 4 and ending in Infinite just tears my soul apart. This song fits perfectly with the fargments from which it turns out Cortana tries to save the construct that the Chief carries with him in Infinite. You break my heart, Malukah. It's refreshing to see someone as talented as you understand truly the emotional story of the Halo characters. Cortana is an incredibly complex character for an A.I. She's funny, caring, scary as hell when she needs to be, and above all, completely in love with John. XD What's more important at the end of Halo 3 is that last note, and this song, I feel really captures her lonely love, her hero always in sight but never with her. Bravo.

This song reminds me of the time many years ago when I first saw that ending scene in Halo 3 and thought Cortona & Chief were doomed to drift in a void of space forever. That early autumn night of its release 13 years past, sitting on the edge of my bed in the dark bedroom illuminated only by the light of the TV, I sat there as the screen faded to black, and there was no more light in the room, but the xbox stilled hummed away. Your vocals of Never Forget feel as if it’s a melodic equivalent of a memory link to the past; of the times of the friends I had, and to my life as it was then. I’ve never felt so moved by a singular piece of music related to Halo before, and this probably speaks true to many others as well. Thank you for creating this beautiful and melancholic song.

When you play Halo and go from halo 2 to halo 3 and you start seeing the master chief getting just a little bit emotional with Cortana and his promise you start to get this feeling of victory, of goodness in your heart, you are doing something beautiful to an artificial intelligence and start wondering if Cortana is real or if she can really feel happiness and in the moment master chief rescues her she makes sure to let you know she needs you, an then halo 4 arrives and her rampancy makes everything so harsh and you feel everything falling apart... and... just hearing this song that is so close to Martin O'Donnell's style and the saddest lyrics ever I couldn''t keep the tears for myself, they left a trail of just wonderful feelings as the drops fell from my chin to the ground. Malukah you outdone yourself thank you... really thank you.

First heard this shortly after she posted it. To this day, still one of my favorite pieces of music. Not just by her, but in general. I love Halo (evidenced by my name) and this song is not only beautiful in both performance and lyric, but also brilliantly captured the sadness and strength of the relationship between Cortana and Chief. Amazing work, Malukah! almost 4 years later and it's still in my favorites, and I still listen to it frequently.
