Baby raccoons are so damned adorable. We have a family that lives under our deck, the mama has babies just about every year, and she's very comfortable with us (we can pet her when she's in the mood for it). So when her youngsters are old enough to start wandering around, they climb right up the support posts and walk along the rails, begging for fruit. Sometimes I would have 3-4 of them climbing me like a ladder trying to get to grapes I had in my shirt pockets. 😆

I've heard it said that racoons will be the next animal to domesticate themselves, just like cats did. And it seems like that is what is happening. Hearing and seeing more and more stories of racoons deciding "people think we're cute and will give us food and shelter. And cuddles kind of feel good. And they'll keep an eye on the young ones while you take a nap" Yep, they are the next adorable critters to have us wrapped around their paws.

@@tiffanymichaels2429 Raccoons, smaller wild cats, and meerkats. In the wild, if you're sitting down, the latter will just walk right up to you and go through your pants pockets for snacks.

@@tiffanymichaels2429 we had a raccoon that visited our terrace every day..we fed him..my cat would be on the terrace with him and no issues! The raccoon even used the litter box we had out there.

Great story. Had a family of raccoons living under the deck at my old house as well. I think it was a good ten years. But one year they left and it was skunks instead!

The space she was in is used by people who wouldn’t be safe. It’s safer for her to move them now. She is from that area, it was very kind of them to let her take them to her other nest sites. The wild raccoons do this anyways. It was safer for the momma to move along sooner so that there was less chance of a negative interaction with the people using the space.

I had to raise a baby raccoon cuz he got lost from its mom and he was so tiny,he fit in the palm of my hand. I love raccoons,I use to have a mommy one come around to get food from me and after awhile she started bringing her babies around. They are so gentle,messy but gentle and adorable.
