I'm glad you reacted to Solar Gamsung. It shows a different side of Mamamoo but I think many people miss it. Solar Gamsung is all covers except Star Wind Flower Sun, which was part of the project tho it wasn't included on the cd. She said most of these were songs she loved while growing up. I don't want to spoil SWFS too much but it fits the project because she wrote it to express her gratitude to everyone for their love and support - the members (symbolized in the title), their families, colleagues & staff, and of course moomoos. The MV for Mamamoo's version is dedicated "To our precious people." Solar's voice hits me in a way that's almost painful in songs such as Paint Me and Lived Like a Fool. It's a physical thing, like getting goosebumps in your spine in the area of the heart chakra and it's a bit too intense if I'm in a susceptible state of mind. That's why I say there's no filter between her heart and her voice. She has a childlike innocence that burns with the pure spiritual fire of love. I think that's the source of her drive and strength as a person, her power as a singer, as well as her yeba gullibility and bright, cheerful personality. That sounds like woowoo gibberish when I read it back but I don't know how else to describe it. :) I love the production on these songs with the mostly acoustic instruments and minimal processing on the vocal tracks. And the warm tones of the cover MVs are perfect. Great marriage of audio & visual to support the sincerity and naked emotion of the songs. It's Been a Long Time is a new wave version of a 90's k-rock song. The MV features 4 of the 5 members of Onewe as the band. Not sure you noticed they were doing a Blondie tribute (or parody lol) or the instrumental quote from Stevie Wonder's Sir Duke. The MV for Where the Wind Rises was shot in New Zealand while they were filming Starry Night and Star Wind Flower Sun. Nada Sou Sou is one of her most beautiful covers and the MV kills me every time. I love the storytelling tho I had to watch it a couple times to pick up all the threads. They were too poor to afford a piano or lessons so she had to make do with a melodica. Mom probably worked several jobs to support them and young Solar was supposed to meet mom at one of them but she fell asleep on the bus and got off at the wrong stop and then got lost. When she finds her mom and walks through the door as adult Solar I lose it. Lie Ya was not part of Solar Gamsung. It was released a half a year later. Solar and Cosmic Girl co-wrote Lie Ya. Yeah, that was live. Lol at your gesture for plosive sounds. This is another one from the favorite neglected songs of 2018 list like Wheein's Easy. One of my favorite things about it is that it's an r&b song over a latin beat. When you get a chance you should check out some of the cover medleys Solar & Cosmic Girl did on Solarsido.

A few mentioned that these are all covers (with the exception of tomorrow's "star wind flower sun" and cosmic girl's "lie ya") and that she selected the specific songs because they all spoke to her in some way. Most are older korean songs that she grew up with as they're favorites of her parents, but others are songs she heard elsewhere on her own, such as "nada sou sou", like someone else said (i believe she heard it at a restaurant) Also, solar was invited to become a cast member for the show 'gamsung camping' (emotional camping), likely due to this project, where she met and became close friends with actress park sodam ('parasite', among plenty of others). Sodam was one of her guests on 'just interview', an occasional segment on her youtube channel, solarsido, and is invariably one of the first people to comment on her instagram posts and has also attended her musical (alongside other gamsung camping cast members). Definitely yet another show worth checking out if you ever have the time, though we only got one season of it

Nada Sou Sou（涙そうそう） is a Japanese song. The lyrics were written by Ryouko Moriyama. She wrote the lyrics thinking of her brother who died when she was a child. Solar sings it in Korean. Actually, Mamamoo has released a Japanese version of Nada Sou Sou. Please check it out.

This album among some other reasons is why Solar is not just my mamamoo Bias, she is my favorite living singer(Prince is 1st for me always). She makes you feel emotion with her voice and this entire album is exactly that Solar's emotion. Lived like a fool is my favorite on this. Star Wind Flower Sun is technically a cover, it is a mamamoo song she wrote but did it solo at the end of this project, do it is part of it and her solo version is just as good as the mamamoo version. Last year in an interview she said the project isnt over and she will get back to it. Great reaction, rare to see someone listen to the entire album in one video. these are all covers but she chose each and did them in her way. This project is what she did, while the other 3 members were doing solo albums and she did do live performances of these during the project. nada sou sou is touching and originally from japan. The little girl is great too. Cosmic Girl and Solar have more videos together on Solarsido not just Lie Ya. I see Solar just dropped a new christmas song, a WHAM! cover.

What I love about the Solar Gamsung album and the entire project (it is still technically ongoing) is that all the songs are Solar's personal picks. These are songs that either she grew up listening to or songs that one way or the other, touched and affected her. In Nada Sou Sou's case, she said she heard it somewhere and immediately searched for it coz it resonated so much to her. And of course, she just had to record her version and make it part of the Solar Gamsung project. What a great way to compile all your fave songs, make a cover of each and release an album. 😊 P.S - While I love all the songs .. Nada Sou Sou is my fave ..it just hits differently.

Nada Sou Sou is originally a Japanese song, here Solar sung the Korean version of the song, but Mamamoo as a whole have also covered the Japanese version of it. I hope you get to listen to them 4 singing this beautiful piece when you get to their Japanese album. Much love.

Fun facts: Cosmic Girl has written or produced a lot of other songs for Mamamoo (Bsides). And was and might still be a vocal coach for them. She used to be in a girl group called Rania

My Solar Gamsung albums literally just arrived!! Solar's voice when singing ballads feels like a stab straight to the heart. Idk how else to explain it. It's either a stab through the heart or full body goosebumps/chills. Love that you're doing this chronologically, btw! Their discography is so massive that this way of diving into it helps you see their growth as artists and appreciate them more. Thank you for this!

Actually, Solar did a solo version of Star Wind Flower Sun after Yellow Flower promotions and included it in the Solar Gamsung series while Lie Ya, on the other hand, isn't part of Solar Gamsung. It's a single released by Cosmic girl featuring Solar. It was recorded after Red Moon promotions.

I watch all of ur mamamoo reactions and give them likes but never comment for some reason, thought I had to fix that I enjoy your reactions, keep it up) I've never seen all of the songs from this project (but have seen most of them tho) so it was nice to watch them with you and to get some of them refreshed in my memory cuz I haven't listened to them in a while some fun facts: solar and cosmic girl do some stuff together pretty often, there are multiple videos with cosmic girl on solar's channel, cosmic girl is a producer in rbw and she and her team made some amazing bops for mamamoo (look for the "cosmic" sound in the beginning of the song) in "in my dreams" the male actor is seoho from oneus (rbw boy group, debuted 2019), he's like 5 years younger than solar, at the time he was a trainee in "it's been a long time" it is indeed 4 members out of 5 from a band from rbw called onewe (debuted 2019 too, onewe and oneus are brother groups with a set of twins each in one group) I'm not sure tho if they actually played on their instruments for this song, I kinda doubt it tho solar and these 4 did some projects together on her channel too in "where the wind rises" the whistling is done by yonghoon (the 5th member of onewe who wasn't in "it's been a long time" mv, he's the main vocalist and that's why he didn't appear in the mv cuz he doesn't usually play any instrument but he can play piano and guitar and does it occasionally in their mvs) nada sou sou never fails to make me cry, this little actress is something! also iirc all those songs are covers/remakes and not original songs p.s. I hope one day u'll check onewe too, they are really good u won't regret; also they have a song featuring hwasa called "Q" and did multiple mamamoo covers and stages with them also when u'll be reacting to moonbyul's eclipse remember that onewe's yonghoon and oneus's seoho did high note adlibs for it) onewe's giuk produced for mamamoo+, onewe's dongmyeong and wheein are friends, onewe often come to moonbyul's radio show etc etc those two groups are pretty close (and oneus too; I mean all raw groups seem pretty close with each other, they interact pretty often)

I completely agree with you that Solar's voice is one of the best voices that I've ever heard, and it's really hard to concentrate on lyrics sometimes when she sings like that. Her voice conveys so much emotion that it feels like I don't need lyrics to understand the feeling which is really amazing. I cry a lot because of her singing and the emotion is even more stronger when I concentrate or try to read the lyrics as the details she added in her singing are so delicate and heart-wrenching. About the sadness in these old folk classic, my interpretation is that it might be due to a more conservative society and some historical difficulties in older generations so that love was hard to convey in words freely and lots of bitter experiences in real life.
