one of the things i really love about mamamoo's music is that, as you mentioned, they handle deeper and lighter subjects fantastically well. but the thing that takes the cake for me in their music is how a lot of their lighter and brighter songs preach self-love and confidence, and not being afraid to be who you are and stand up for yourself. you have your ocasional "love focused" song as well, but a lot of their music and the core of their career and what they represent is empowering people (especially women) to love themselves for who they are and accept that the world is the one that is wrong for making you feel like you're not enough -- and also, of course, that having fun (no matter how) and taking breaks is important. so, songs like 'gogobebe', 'yes i am', 'dingga', 'egotistic', 'selfish', 'easy', 'be calm', 'rude boy', 'i do me', 'maria' and just so many more in their discography... it really emphasizes that mamamoo is a group made up of WOMEN, by women and for women. that being said, it's incredible how, even though that is their core audience and target, their songs can affect and have so much meaning to everyone. mamamoo really is the best of the best.

Seeing the Wind Flower video again after a very long time, I realized something at the end...how they switch the shots between happy and blank/dead stare.....It does feel like that as you're recovering from a breakup, you may have a good moment of fun and the next second remember something sad and fall into depression again, and then start over. I don't know if that's what they were going for but it made me think of that.

You're not alone in loving Wind Flower. Tho it wasn't a big hit it's always been one of Mamamoo's and moomoos' favorite songs. Solar wrote Wind Flower in Chinese on the mirror. My 2 cents about Wind Flower as title track #3 in the 4 Season 4 Color project: Wind Flower is the Fall/Blue title track and the stage of love they're exploring is Heartbreak. I don't think Solar & Moonbyul in the taxi was a specific reference to Moonsun as a close friendship. Imo it's more of a group morphing or passing the baton sequence, going from Solar getting into the taxi to Moonbyul in the taxi to Wheein leaning her head out of the taxi to Hwasa getting out of the taxi. This incorporates several 4 Season 4 Color concepts: the morphing indicates the commonality of their experience and their bff team unity as first seen in the Paint Me MV that introduced the 4S4C project. The sequence is in chrono order by the members' ages while also indicating that each member represents a stage in the experience of heartbreak. The taxi ride represents the journey they're on in the song and the morphing sequence implies that each member's individual feelings are shared by the others. After the taxi ride we see them together as a group getting over it day by day through their friendship and mutual support. I call this the 4 into 1 concept where in each of the 4S4C title track MVs we see the members in solo scenes expressing her own feelings about that song's emotion (symbolized by the season & color) and then at the end they come together as a unit. Great comments about the scenes towards the end that show how empty and hollow they feel inside despite trying to pretend that everything's ok. This is exactly the emotional state of loneliness after a breakup and it parallels the seasonal cycle of fall's heartbreak into the emotional hibernation of winter that follows. Gogobebe picks up the story again at the very end of winter (it was released in early March 2019) where we see each of the girls stuck in her own rut after a winter of discontent. Just like winter is a necessary and inevitable season their emotional disengagement and withdrawal is a necessary stage after a breakup and a normal phase in the cycle of life & love. My 2 cents about Gogobebe as title track #4 in the 4 Season 4 Color project: Gogobebe is the Winter/White title track and the stage of love they're exploring is Unattached. White also represents the Innocence of childhood in a life cycle as an initial state preceding sexual awareness and Attraction/Yellow, as outlined in Paint Me. Since everything is cyclical Innocence becomes Unattached after the end of a relationship cycle. Loved your comments about Gogobebe but as usual I have a slightly different take on it as the final title track in the 4S4C project but first here's my take on Gogobebe's numerology. Mamamoo loves to play with letter and number substitutions, esp Moonbyul, who does something similar in her solo song G999. 9 /6, 6 19 is a palindrome with the slash becoming a one. 9 to 6 is the typical Korean work day and as you know 6/19 is their debut date in 2014, implying that Mamamoo has been working nonstop since their debut. Gogobebe is aka 9966 and the girls hilariously tried to form 9966 with their bodies in an encore stage after a music show win but did it backwards so it looked like 6699 instead. As I mentioned, Gogobebe picks up their emotional journey at the end of the winter following the breakup in Wind Flower. At the beginning of the MV we see each member in solo scenes where they're each stuck in a different emotional rut. During this emotional winter their feelings have gone underground and lie submerged in a frozen wasteland. Solar is housebound and agoraphobic, Hwasa is so depressed she can't get dressed or even make it out of the bathroom, Moonbyul is living in the past, stuck in a stifling office environment with outdated technology, and Wheein is going around in circles and her self-esteem is so low even the kids don't respect her and play a prank on her. The invitation to a house party at #99 (Go Go!) is a wakeup call reminding them that winter will end soon along with this emotional phase, that life goes on and spring is right around the corner. Moonbyul busting up through the ceiling reminds me of the daffodils that started blooming in my yard over the last couple of weeks heralding the imminent arrival of spring. After receiving the invitations each member fantasizes about the house party in their current location then we see them get together, as usual in the 4 into 1 4S4C MV format, and arrive at the house party, only to be tricked by the kids into going into the wrong house, where they meet up with overly serious young people at a book club or study session listening to classical (aka serious) music so they're in a parallel state of repression and denial as the members at the beginning of the MV. The mischievous kids playing pranks are a reminder that white equals innocence and childhood in the 4S4C color scheme along with the need to approach life with a youthful sense of fun, playfulness and zest and an openness to new experiences and new people. Spring is coming and with it will come spring fever, attraction and budding love as the next year and the next cycle of relationships begins again.

@DG Reacts I realize the _last_ thing you need is another artist to look into, but this is a near-perfect opening. *In the background of Gogobebe is a pre-debut appearance by ZB Label's first & so far only artist, AleXa.* She's in red behind Wheein on the merry-go-round and the leader of the study group in the striped shirt. *AleXa also did a dance cover of Moonbyul's "Eclipse",* and Byul photobombed the video shoot, so suffice to say, they're still friends. AleXa's initial concept was an A.I./cyborg, and most of the MV's in her videography refer to it if not form part of. the developing overall story arc. Her dance skills put her in elite company like Lisa and Hyoyeon. American-born, AleXa represented her home state of Oklahoma in the first-ever American Song Contest #ASC and won the whole thing with her song "Wonderland". Her most recent MV is "MBTI", a collaboration with Just B. I'm hoping you'll take to time to watch something of hers offline, I really think it would inspire you to react to her. Not a request, per se, but a lure for you to maybe hook yourself in ;)
