I used to have a Mamiya C3, the first generation of this delicious camera. I sold it, but missed it so much I ended up buying a C330 to replace it. They are awesome. Quiet and unobtrusive, great glass, bellows focus, and a conversation starter. And the moving parallax line is just plain genius. Love your "Shoot Film" series!

I loved mine, but when I was passed over for two jobs because my equipment wasn't "professional", I sold it and all of the other lenses and accessories and several other camera ,i including an Alpa 10, and bought an RB67 with 3 lenses. 32 years in the studio, the RB more than paid for itself, but the C330 was a lot more fun than a lot of the subsequent cameras I vae owned.BTW, the Mamiya paramender is a cure for parallax issues. as alwqys, a great vid! Thanks!.

in this day and age when most people have a big DSLR up at their face ,using a camera like this gives a totally different impression to any human subject you might be photographing, it would seem less aggressive as you are not hiding behind the camera, you are looking down into the viewfinder then up at the subject, I think people feel less scrutinised when you use this type of camera. I took one of these cameras to New York a few years ago and the camera was an ice breaking talking point, the antiquity of it and unusual appearance made it very easy to approach people and ask to take their photo, many people enjoyed the fact that they were being photographed by an antique camera and were curious. Just remember that if you are taking portraits of people and you want them looking directly into camera you have to keep reminding them to look directly into the lens as people have a natural tendency to look at you and in the photo their eye line looks like they are looking up rather than straight ahead. Its a great format and I learned photography as a student with this camera 35 years ago, In my career as a pro photographer I've used Rz67, Hasselblad and Pentax 67 film cameras, the only medium format film camera I have kept is the Mamiya Twin Lens C330, it is my favourite of them all.

The Mamiya C series is just an awesome system. I have a C220 and the 55mm, 80mm and Super 180mm lenses. The only thing I miss is having the parallax indicator of the C330. It has completely changed my way of shooting. A TLR with interchangeable lenses and macro capability... sweet :) People are coming up to me, asking about the camera, we chat and I take their picture sometimes. It makes for a great street camera in that regard. I've seen all your other videos in the series and I have to say you have a great eye, Eduardo! Kinda jealous :) Keep up the good work and keep these videos coming.

The M330 is a great camera. The bellows allow you to get close. I have a Mamiya RB67. If you were to buy a Mamiya you might like RB67 a little better. It shoots a larger image the only draw back is you only get 10 shots per roll.

I used the Kodak Tri-X untill the Kodak Tmax came, the Tmax are much better than the Tri-X, I shot the Tmax (and Tri-X) at 200 ASA/ISO, used a thinner devoloper and agitated where gently a few times each half minutte, the devioloping time was about two and a alf time longer because of the thinner devolper, it gave much finer grain and a larger/wider greyscala, fine details in both highligt and shadoes but still with plenty of contrast, so together with Ilford Multigrade paper this was the best enlargement prints you could get ;)

While the Mamiya C330 is a great camera with inter-changeable lenses the Yashicamat 124G is a much better and cheaper option if you want to get a TLR.
@dant.6364
@dant.6364 7 жыл бұрын
Yashicamat = meh The c330 is much sturdier, focuses closer, and has a variety of lenses plus you can focus much closer due to the bellows. In the 1980's (when I was a wedding photographer) pros used mainly Hasselblads or Mamiyas. Yashicas are smaller but who cares about size when shooting a TLR? All TLRs are huge compared to a 35mm slr. If you are worried about size just use a 35mm camera.

Really? What differences did you find that made you prefer the C330? I'm asking because I haven't shot a Rollei yet and I would love to know what should I pay attention to!
@DaveBowman
@DaveBowman 8 жыл бұрын
The close focus ability of the C330 is a big bonus. With the Rollei you have to use the Rolleinar close-focus lenses, which are fiddly. You can also change lenses on the C330 very easily whereas with the Rollei you're fixed to the lens of the model you buy. I know some may find it a bit on the heavy side, but I also prefer the weight of the C330. The camera feels much more solid.
@edpavez
@edpavez 8 жыл бұрын
Dave Bowman that's all good to know. I LOVED the close-focus and the interchangeable lenses on the C330. I haven't tried the Rollei, but if it doesn't have this features, I can understand why you like the C330...!

Hi, sincerely I don't understand the sense of this camera. Bellows has a very slow focusing method. Yes.. you can shot macro photo but.. I think the advantage of the TLR is the fast focusing. Nice camera.. but I prefer the Zeiss Ikoflex or other classic TLR cameras. What's your opinion?

:) Saludos!
