Donna (Meryl Streep), an independent hotelier in the Greek islands, is preparing for her daughter's wedding with the help of two old friends. Meanwhile Sophie, the spirited bride, has a plan. For me, Pierce was the perfect choice for Sam. It was not about his singing ability, they cast him because he's a great actor. The heart of the story was NOT Sophie and Sky's wedding, it was Donna reuniting with the one true love of her life 20 years later. Their happy ending made me tear up...not Sophie and Sky.

I don't understand why some people criticize this film, especially Pierce Brosnan's singing. I love this film and all the songs so much! Everything's brilliantly done. I enjoy Peirce's singing voice too, he sings with emotion and he's an amazing actor. And I am very glad to see that many people in the comment section here feel the same way

I love how this movie is a musical where the cast can't really sing that well.. But that makes me appreciate their heartfelt acting even more. Some musical now are heavily autotuned and the singing sound so perfect AF but no feelings, no authenticity at all.. This one? This is what you call great acting, no hiding behind autotune and CGed scenes 😍😍

Sure, he doesn't have the vocal ability to play Erik or Jean Valjean, but his voice fits perfectly this role. Honestly, their realistic and down to earth approach is one of the things that make this musical so relatable. Imperfect, real and emotional, a mature man serenading his long lost love.

Pierce is an immensely talented actor. During his long career he has played many characters and Sam is very far from James Bond but demonstrates the ability of the great actor. As for singing, I love hearing Mr. Brosnan's voice. I live in Italy and I like to see all of his films in their original English language precisely because I love his voice. And I like the way he sings.

0:32 THIS right here. To me, acting "in love" is the most difficult part of an actor's job. But just look right here - Meryl's face, the way Donna goes from defensive and composed, holding her ground, to nostalgic of what she had with Sam, like all the passion and memories have come back instantly. Meryl is a pro at portraying any feeling but I think my favorite part of her acting method is the way she expresses love - not platonic, romantic. Exquisite. Forever my "feel-good" film. And the chemistry with Pierce is amazing. I'm also a huge ABBA fan. All my favorite things combined!

So this is when Pierce Brosnan was savaged by many critics. His singing was compared to "a water buffalo", "a donkey braying", "a wounded raccoon", bla bla bla. For me, he was just great. He sings with emotion and character. That's what you get only from a great actor.

Brosnan isn't the best singer, but he isn't that bad, especially in this song. Honestly I didn't even realise he wasn't good at singing until I saw something about it a few weeks ago. I've watched this film several times since it was released and I honestly didn't even notice that there was anything wrong with his voice. I don't really fancy Meryl's singing either though. There's no doubt she can sing and she's amazing in this (in spite of some heavy overacting in certain scenes). Her voice just doesn't sound as good as Amanda's or Christine's. It sounds very shaky.

Although Pierce isn’t great at singing, it still works with this song, he still uses the emotions and can still hit the notes needed. I’d rather have him singing this then some overly auto tuned person.

The character Dona is marked in my life by everything she spent alone! Her story is similar to mine for loving a man for so many years suffering alone! I can not see the part where Dona and Sam meet after so many years and that with her! I'm Dona and the man I loved is Sam! I cry seeing their scene in sos music and in music the winner Takes it all! Pierce will always be handsome to me, and for those hating his singing, too bad! They weren't looking for singers when they cast this movie. It's raw and sincere and I loved it. He did a movie called Gray Owl that might not be too well known, but he was awesome in that. No singing, but based on a true story.
