Dermal clinician here. DONT DO TCA AND GLYCOLIC PEELS WHEN YOU ARE STARTING. IT CAN CAUSE DEPIGMENTATION ON THE SKIN (VITILIGO/HYPOPIGMENTATION). Sometimes its not even needed. We only use strong peels for scars. 20% tca peel is way too high for dark skin. You are better of with kojic acid, lactic acid or mandelic acid in peels. Microneedling helps as well. But dark skin needs precaustion and spf while doing invasive treatments.

For a black woman who's never done a chemical peel before, would a 12.5% TCA peel on the face, 7% for eye area, and 20% for the body be ok if I use alpha arbutin for two weeks prior and only did one pass?
@fummi3636
@fummi3636 Жыл бұрын
@@dianadoneveu9321 You never did a chemical peel before, so you should start off with a baby peel which is 7% . 7% is safe to use around the eyelid and lips , Vaseline must be applied on the eyelashes. But always do a patch test to see if your skin around your eyes can handle it. Always start slow and work your way up. You can do layers with 7% on your face and stop when you see frosting. Same with your body start with 7% and do layers and stop when you see frosting. If over a long period of time ,you are not seeing any results with 7% on your face or body then go up to 10% or 12%.

@Justme9864. Жыл бұрын
@@Seeingisntbelieving is it possible to get good results. Of course. But that would never be my first choice. Especially because dark skin can be sensitive to keloid. Tca is good for collagen production en to fade scars. But if you want that then i rather do microneedling. If its about hyperpigmentation, then i grab something with kojic acid other peels. TCA is the only peel that burns the protein in your skin and it kind of has a laser effect. Thats why i rather dont choose tca on darker skin tones.

As a licensed esthetician of over 10yrs you DON'T let the client dictate what service is best. All chemical peels are different and YOU MUST follow all instructions for homecare. She could have informed him of the best treatment plan for him to make sure he's following home care with basic treatments. Clients leave and do what they think is best and sometimes cause more damage. They do whatever they want to do sometimes and then blame you. If you've never been through a serious chemical peel it will scare you. Then you'll talk to people who are not licensed and they'll scare you as well. His face would not have healed that well if it were truly second degree burns. Chemical peels are not the same as fire burns. The woman on there saying that the esthetician should not have moved forward with the chemical peel because he has a history of being a burn victim is absolutely ludicrous. If you're experienced and know the client's skin well chemical peels are very safe and effective. I hope he understands that not following specific directions caused a lot of what he ended up dealing with.

I get peels all the time, and let me tell y’all exactly what happened. As you can see in the first clip, his skin is charred …right? Well No, only the first layer of skin you’re trying to get rid of. His skin hasn’t even finished peeling. There is absolutely NO WAY his skin would look raw like this without ripping skin off. You wouldn’t even know you had a burn until the new skin has regenerated. His entire face is SUPPOSED to be crusty and extra dark. That’s what the top layer looks like when you’ve done a peel! The dead skin darkens 1-3 shades ! So what did he do? HE PURPOSELY PEELED HIS SKIN PREMATURELY. This honestly pisses me off. I see EXACTLY what this scam artist is doing. One of the VERY first you’re told is to NEVER pull on your dead skin, you MUST let it fall off on its own, let it shed. He went to that lady with the intent to make some money, he knows a judge and jury would just see a burn like everyone else that doesn’t get peels done. If you’re someone like me, you already know this is a scam. SAD. -10 years doing peels.

Unfortunately, some of these chemical peels do hurt afterwards. My mom had one and she was so uncomfortable afterwards. I do not recommend chemical peels to anyone. Also, as a person of color is never a good idea to do these because the skin may not have an even skin tone after. So, I feel this guy should have done his homework before getting this done. This guy just wants money.

I’m an esthetician student and chemical peels are made to damage the skin in a controlled way but can possibly cause hypopigmentation. In my state estheticians are not allowed to perform these kinds of treatments. Client intake and consent forms are usually signed before getting treatment meaning you are aware of the effects/risks of treatment and you’re giving consent. However the initial burning feeling during treatment, dryness, and peeling is supposed to happen but always do your research before getting chemical peels because there are different kinds to target specific skin conditions. But at the same time … she should definitely have analyzed his skin and recommended a less potent chemical peel for what he was trying to treat…

I've been teaching esthetics for 18 yrs with 23yrs total experience in skincare treatments and an even longer background in pharmacy. I also train nurses who decide to work in dermatology clinics and medical spas under the guidance of a doctor. A lot comes into play when giving chemical peel to clients and with men especially after going over a complete consultation my instructions for them is NOT to shave before this service not even a beard trim or shape. A chemical peel is an intentional wounding of the skin in a controlled process. Each state varies with a set percentage that an esthetician can use. It appears that this young man got a peel that should have been performed by a dermatologist because they will use a much higher percentage and a much lower P.H. and will get that type of skin peeling results in a matter of days, so not only will it be an intentional wound, but also an intentional burn. His skin did exactly what it was supposed to do, and he felt exactly what he was supposed to feel to a certain extent. I'm just not sure if his skin was neutralized to stop the effects (similar to a perm that has to be neutralized) before he left the spa however some peels are not to be neutralized. It also looks as if he was picking at his skin nonetheless the doctors telling him to use dove soap and neosporin was a no-no. If you apply anything to your skin after a peel that you were NOT instructed to apply, you then trap in the heat you feel from that peel. My services always come from a clinical standpoint because I know I have to refer some clients to a dermatologist or turn them away altogether when they are doing treatments that age or ruin their skin over time instead of maintenance only to their skin. He got the wonderful results that he was supposed to get as well. The different types of peels must be explained and the right one should be chosen as well as the warning of the intensity. A lot of times a darker skin is going to be more delicate to this service so please do not seek the treatment to achieve lighter skin only. A lot of clients look for instant or overnight miracles when conditions actually happen over a long period of time.

I’m a medical aesthetician and I know exactly how this procedure should be done usually in the spa environment chemical peels are between 10% and 50% first procedure it must be done with the lowest percentage possible to try the skin results after each treatment you might increase by percentage so from 10% the next procedure can be done 20 or still remain on the 10th if it’s the skin cannot handle it you learn as you go unfortunately uncomfortable and painful can be for a short period time but never to this degree! So if is the first time this person has a high percentage of chemical peel on his face or slowly increase by sessions one by one he needs to find out that if the the aesthetician prior used let’s see a 10% and the next time he was the 50% she took a high risk and this is most like it happened but you know what I was the she’s gonna deny it to cover her own but if you have any questions I can answer you definitely have to sue her and this is this is definitely happened to you and the difference is they should pay for it

Also chemical peels used after microdermabrasion it’s extremely tricky procedure ! Basically microdermabrasion curbed on fermi layer by diamond 💎 shaped extremely causes extreme irritation or removing these first layer of the skin! Benefits : increase hidration’ removeo o diminishe fine wrinkles and scars / include acne scares , increase collagen productions and more ! After this treatment u must use extra hadrarion at least 2 or more time a day to prevent more scaring or during pulling of the skin irritation! Your aesthetician must advice u that ! U must also use sons screen if u goi outside to protect ur shin after this procedure to make sure not to cause skin cancer or sun burning u skin extreme fragile for a day or 2 must use preventative majors if u have microdermabrasion!! Ok 👍 agent microdermabrasion if I’d u apply chemical peels it can be definitely best results and longer healing process ‘ but therapist must know how to use % and what skin can handle it or not ! Must use lowest % first time and increase by next treatment plans!Most Importantafter no matter what % chemical peel u use it must be neutralized to stop processing further , basically the skin keep burning if u not neutralized it with an alcaline neutralizeder ! Chemical peels are acidic it’s an acid they % determine the strength of the product’s! I’m 💯 sure this therapist must went wrong somewhere!!! Ether left it on the skin to long , or not use neutralizer or she mixture up the % using a higher then what she tauth ! Or . Not knowing proper treatment how it’s works

I've been doing my own chemical peels on my own for about 8 yrs now, before it got trendy. In my opinion I believe it was both of their faults. TCA peel is way stonget than glycolic and lactic acid. When working with any chemical peels especially TCA you should always start with the lowest percentage. He seem impatient and didn't seem to know about after care which can really make or break your results. I feel like whenever people do chemical peels with an esthetician or dr, they should provide the after care products with directions to patients. Just my little 2 cent.

The guy must have not had an understanding of chemical peels. The name alone says it. A chemical designed to cause varying layers of skin to peel. The TCA (trichloric acid) strength varies from the weakest, 10 TCA to, as far as I know 60% TCA. The guy's steps post peel are the norm. When the TCA reaches maximum effectiveness, it turns white also termed as "frosting". It's EXTREMELY important to keep the skin moisturized & *do not pick at it* Usually within 72 hours, the skin will begin to peel, never, ever try to peel it off, yourself, let it come off naturally. The skin will peel off just like a sunburn, revealing fresh looking skin. Along with the layers, often melasma, sun damage, acne scars plus other marks will come off. What did the guy think was supposed to happen, I'm genuinely speculating. A chemical peel by design takes layers of the skin off. It's *PAINFUL* !!!!! When going through the peeling, it's unattractive. Within 10 - 20 days after the initial chemical peel, the skin will look fresh, usually slightly pink, very smoothe.
