@@brandi5126 agreed, what happened to Ryan reminded me of the case about Stephen Lawrence in the UK since his friend called for an ambulance and instead got the police and like the Phoenix PD, they didn't bother to see if Stephen is ok let alone call for paramedics. Also to make things even worse, they accused Stephen's friend of attacking him and decided that both of them were gang members, since they were both black which I found sickening unprofessional.

As someone who was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona - I can tell you majority of the Phoenix police force is absolute trash and do not care about anyone. I was in a physically abusive relationship for a few years and the dad of my boyfriend who was abusing me, happened to be police chief and when I would call for help etc, he would get out of it every time. Daddy would show up and make all his problems disappear and told me I was the one doing this to myself / and if he was doing that to me, I shouldn’t have made my bf at the time so angry for him to even want to do that to me. Ultimately leading to me never calling the police because nothing ever happened to him and I was always the one made out to look like the crazy girlfriend. It was horrible. And thats just one set of instances I’ve had with the Phoenix police department, there are others and every time they have let me down.

Preach! The police are complete liars. I got hit by a drunk driver in a hit and run. I got a bad concussion and in a panic called my best friend w out realizing it and he called the cops. They never searched for the person who hit me. Only 1 cop came and I couldn't remember where my insurance was so I couldn't give it to the cop and my friend came and kept yelling at the cop that I obviously had a concussion and to stop harrasing me, and he'd have my car towed. The cop forced me to drive off the freeway and I hit a curb almost ran into a retirement home and backed up into the cop car. The cop got really nervous and got out and said to my friend "I shldnt have made her drive." My friend was so mad he actually yelled " Yeah no shit man." He had me taken to the hospital and they took my blood illegally and he gave me a DUI even though I was COMPLETELY sober. Than they suspended my liscense for having no insurance even though I did. It took my a YEAR to fix cause of covid and the cop had no balls to show up to my court hearing. He completely lied in his report and cut out my witness and since they took my blood illegally I was able to counter sue for a small amount. I haven't seen the money yet but I always get a letter that covid is "slowing the process" I love my state but I hate the government here. It's conservatives that are money hungry and love to embezzle money from the public. like they did from the light rail. My uncle was a cop here I know their assholes. I mean a self drivingUber ran over a 20 yr old girl here and their just like whoops oh well.

“I’m just going to leave this case so the family can’t sue me for holding their child, asking him intense questions without any basic rights like food, water or breaks, while they have a bullet wound in their head, with an obvious injury on the eye that we should’ve checked him for medical attention at least , and not offer any patience that should be given to anyone and everyone in this situation because I believe he’s the killer with no evidence”. I don’t cry easily with cases like this but when you said he had a bullet wound every scene after of the interrogation was so heartbreaking and brung me to full tears, Ryan had suffered so much to a point where I can’t even fathom right now.

Thank you Hailey for continuing to shed light on this topic! I'm only about 16 min. in and I'm already so frustrated! I really wish the bad apples of law enforcement didn't overshadow the people that actually want to make a difference and keep us safe. It leads to more people feeling safe to do crime while the people that should feel safe now feel unsafe. I have more trust in a stranger. Police are the ones I get nervous about when they're right behind me while driving because I almost automatically feel that their intentions are to pull me over when I know I haven't done anything. That's just a small instance. I feel uncomfortable whenever I see them in general. It's sad that I know countless people who have had worse experiences and fear them more than I do. Such a backwards system.

The fact that they waited four hours to show up, and then wait for search warrant as well as lock smith. Those are all red flags based on what they saw through the window. I think it should be a law, everywhere, that you should have to get medical attention, before you get taken anywhere. Ryan should have been medically checked out, at least by an ambulance. Before anything else happened, at all. So sad. His death could have been prevented. If they hadn't waited over 6 hours. It took that long for the cop to even notice. Then call someone to check him out. Tragic.

I watched that whole interrogation a few months back, and by the end i was sobbing. The whole situation was so horrific, especially thinking about what ryan had gone through before and was going through in that police station. Just imagining watching your girlfriend be murdered, then you yourself getting shot in the head, being stuck in the house with her unable to get help, and then being taken by the police, accused and interrogated when you’re clearly not in your right mind but desperately trying to explain what happened. If those officers had just taken him for the medical care he clearly urgently needed, Ryan might have had a better chance at recovering.

I hope that interrogator was fired. that was horrific, what a completely unskilled idiot to not even first examine the wounds and recognize the man was clearly not cognitively intact.
