Ladies! Ladies! We HAVE got to end the "I can fix him" mentality!! It doesn't matter what social level we're at, our income bracket or our educational background, I see a commonality among us all! We think we can fix a broken man! I'm in no way blaming Louise at all or deflecting that dude's guilt! But damn, we've got to look at men with our brains and not our hearts! I had to learn this lesson the hard way! No, he didn't kill me, but, he thought he did! Please teach your daughters AND sons to look beyond their suitor's words and a good way to predict future behavior is to look at past behavior! R.I.P. Louise!

As a girl who had once believed I could "Fix a man", even if everyone around them tells her that he is dangerous and she has to move on, it will just magnify the pity and sympathy she has towards the man who was being "wrongfully treated just because of past mistakes" I do not blame Louise for thinking she could fix this murderer. She just had a really kind heart and the man knew her weak point and how to manipulate her. I also think the fact that she read romance novels and fantasized about "true love" has a big role here too. A lot of novels and movies about true love tend to tell stories about a lover who sees past all the faults of the other and still wanting to be with them..and almost all of these stories will end up with the other finally realising their mistakes and changing themselves for the sake of the unconditional love they got from the lover. I think at some point most of us have all fantasized about fixing a person in the name of true love :')

The story is giving me the same vibes as those edgy tumblr ppl romanticizing serial killers; the ones that fantasize “fixing” these brutal criminals or deluding to themselves to be special cases who believe they won’t be harmed if they got into a relationship with an actual killer. I legit ended a friendship with an online friend when I don’t agree with them sympathizing with Bundy and I’ve been called heartless or having no empathy. It’s insane.
@dinahsaur7999
@dinahsaur7999 Жыл бұрын
That is so sad, but I partly blame the media for portraying the killers with handsome men like Zach Efron and Evan Peters playing them. And they are MILKING the Dahmer stuff. Like cmon, how many more Dahmer stuff do we need?!! We get it! He was a cannibal serial killer that wanted a sex zombie! It's so infuriating because ppl have so much sympathy for these literal killers about their "super sad childhoods🥺" but fail to look at the victims' families and have any empathy for them before they post online about how "hot" Dahmer looked. Like it's insane.
@BirdyMum
@BirdyMum Жыл бұрын
@@dinahsaur7999 problem is that Ted Bundy was a genuinely handsome guy and Dahmer wasn't ugly so they weren't miscast in those roles. Many of the killers were just normal to look at or actually very charismatic, handsome and charming in real life. I think that contributed to them having such long periods of time where they got away with it.
@dinahsaur7999
@dinahsaur7999 Жыл бұрын
True they both were considered "handsome" to many women and that's definitely how they were able to get away with it for so long. Pretty privilege and white privilege helped them out a lot. However, with the media I feel like they're really milking this stuff cuz we know about these well-known serial killers. They're basically like celebrities because it's more focused on the killers than the victims and their families. But yea you're right cuz they were largely seen as handsome and charismatic.

I absolute cannot imagine excusing this gross disregard for a human's life, especially as a woman this gross disregard for another woman's life. It’s the same way about women who are poor or use drugs. When you are a woman and vulnerable- no one cares. I knew a girl who used to suffered with addiction. She was a good girl, smart, and never had gotten in trouble. She meet a guy who purposefully got her addicted within months just to make her dependent on him. Her ex would abuse her constantly. He even raped her the first night she stopped by alone. But she was addicted and he had what she needed. His biggest customers were the local cops. They would pull her over, come out and not take a report, even sit outside of the home to intimidate her- all to protect her ex. One night after her ex locked her in the room while they swapped stolen property and items from the drug locker in exchange for other drugs, one of the officers took advantage of her. After he was finished he laughed and told her “you better not tell anyone. Who would they believe anyways a cop or a junkie. Hell everyone knows I don’t like n*****s anyways.” She never told anyone. Cops and the culture that surrounds them can and will create monsters! If they are not lead by example they will turn into some of the most violent, abusive, drunk with power POS ever.

Not yet done watching but you didn’t mention that Brent actually parked the car near that cabin thinking it was Johns cabin. The whole time, even in his questioning he was pointing the police in John’s direction and that’s what made the police a little suspicious of him.

i agree this one was really gripping, so much better than some who refuse to do stories that don’t involve awful torture or harm to children or animals, it’s like everyone wants to cover super violent and triggering stories that get worse and worse instead of doing truly gripping and interesting stories

Definitely, watch out for psychopaths, narcissists and people with bad childhoods. I dated unknowingly a sociopath with bipolar disorder and god knows what else and it was true hell. Miraculously I made it out alive just with a lot of PTSD. Get to know people for a very long time is your best bet but honestly you never know.

The police got it wrong and now there is a coroner's inquest happening 20 odd years later !!
