Man Walks In Front Of 2 Trains! Dangerous What He Did! 2 Trains Passing & Train With DPUs CSX

Filming a train, then this guy walks out of nowhere right in front of the approaching train! The man walks across the track in front of the CSX train and then walks next to it on the other track and another train was approaching. 2nd train was Looonnngg and had 2 mid train DPUs running long hood forward. These trains are in Covington, Kentucky at KC Junction. This is the CSX main line just across the Ohio River from Cincinnati and CSX Queensgate Yard. I can't believe that someone would walk across the tracks in front of a moving train and then walk down a secondary mainline next to it! These are very busy tracks and there was another train approaching on the track that the guy was walking on. It's no wonder there is a person or vehicle hit by a train every 3 hours in the USA. The second train was 2 trains in one and had 2 DPUs working hard. Count the cars and leave a comment . I had to film into the sun because it would not be a good idea for me to film from the other side of the tracks with my truck on the other side. There is no good place to park on the other side and the area is a little shady to say the least. Filmed December 13, 2021. Thanks for watching! I really appreciate your support! It just upset me when that young man walked in front of that train as I lost a friend that was hit by a train while driving her car over the tracks as it was a bad intersection and they only had cross bucks at the time. Please stay safe out there ❤️

Totally stupid to walk in front of, and just as dumb to walk in the gauge (between the rails). Also keep in mind that railroad property is PRIVATE property. Thanks for posting, JT.

& he was lucky that second train wasn't going in the same direction as the first train because it would've came up behind him & ran him over. Like on the Trix cereal tv commercial where they say "Silly rabbit Trix are for kids." Silly pedestrian, tracks are for trains.

Awesome video. In plain view or not, walking on railroad tracks is a pretty risky thing to do. That loooong train with the steel coils and DPU's was a great catch!

I was on a METRA commuter train going into Chicago. The train was pulling into one of the western suburb stops when the horn blew uncharacteristically loud and long. The engineer got on the PA and announced to the conductors that the train would not move until the guy who ran in front of the train to get on the platform was kicked off. I guess it was such a close call that it really shook up the engineer.

Wow!! What a long train. There must be some kind of limit that the couplers can be expected to withstand. The pulling force on some of those couplers must be tremendous. I enjoy your videos.

I was looking on Google earth and followed the tracks south and found a good place that you may want to video. It would be something a little different. There are two tunnels side by side at 4478 Lambs Ferry Road (Hwy 1930), Ryland Heights, KY. It shows to be south of the Covington, KY city limits, but the location would not be hard to get too. I don’t recall seeing you video much, if any tunnel scenes. I have not seen many tunnel scenes except for a few out west on the UP and BNSF. I also checked out the Queens Gate Yard. That is a very huge yard to be in the middle of a large city.

Guy, what you call DPU, here in Brazil is called Locotrol. But only when there is Locomotives + cars + Locomotives + cars. When there are more Locomotives in parts of trains (like locos + cars + locos + cars + locos + cars) it's called as tricotrol (3 locos divided at the train) and sometimes quadricotrol (4 locos divided along the train).

Did you know those coils on the front of the second train can weigh as much as 50k-70k pounds? I haul them for work but we’re limited to 45k-50k

Sadly this yahoo has apparently done this shortcut before and may have done the couple clunk. Good 'Ol Foghorn Leghorn would be saying "Son ah say son you just don't use your thinking cap" Quite the fleet of ATW coil cars both the ones up front plus the 19.just ahead of the DPUs. They were throwing their muscle into those cars maxed out at six coils per car. Other notable cars was the BNSF bread box style coil car (squeezed in one the left side) new white VELX tank car and the 5 refurbished ex MDW\IBT double door cars now marked CIBX. OH yes the Chessie groupie covered hoppers with Puppy written on half the cat. Excellent coverage of a new location and sheer wrist endurance

Nice vid JT, really liked seeing 2 DPU’s in the middle of the consist, no. of cars 192 to 194 total with 3 units (yard dumper) 😆👍. Your gonna see people taking stupid risk like that & your gonna hear of a few that will be a statistic in taking stupid risks , it’s gonna happen sooner or later (bottom line.) That southbounder was like four or five major cuts put together to make up that train. Sure liked to see all that rolled steel on the train rolling out of the old AK mill in Middletown. Hopefully the autoracks were full. Many grainers on it that were hopefully full of harvested grain on their way to southern ports for shipment around the world. No wonder the northbounder was stopped on that spur. No way could both trains go over the bridge ahead of his point that goes over the Ohio at the same time. Great Norfie and Chessie action. I hope your Christmas was good. That guy crossing the tracks right in front of the train was lucky his footing was good, if he had slipped it would have been "lights out" for him. These days, with all the crazy stuff people seem to be doing much more these days, it's not all that surprising to see someone do that.

Great Video JT - That Kid needs to take the pedestrian bridge above the train tracks and fire up his google maps to find a more "legitimate" route to where ever he is headed . Crossing in front of the train is just plain disrespectful and flippant not to mention illegal & dangerous .

I grew up near a wetland/woods with spur line running through it, and us kids used to walk the tracks all the time. When I was a kid, the trains ran about once an hour. We believed they would shoot rock salt at us so we always ran helter skelter for the woods when we heard the little switcher locomotive throb up the incline, or down it. I still walk that line, the trains are down to maybe four a day now, two out and two back. In the summer, no ticks to worry about, fewer mosquitoes, and the berm provides the best view of one of the beaver ponds and the wildlife therein. I don't doddle getting out of the way the odd time a train comes along. They do move slow and I have lots of time to get off the track, but I don't want the engineer to get anxious. There's way too many people who commit suicide by train.

kinda surprised the engineer on that first train didn't totally blast that guy with the horn - goofball... Cool super long 2nd train there. Can't say I remember ever seening TWO mid train DPUs like that.

@HistoryNews10 odds are 99 to 1 you get killed when run over by train. You are right however to few train related deaths in 2019, every train death was labeled a covid death.

@HistoryNews10 - Who cares about the odds? People still can, and do get killed walking the tracks! The only legal portion of the tracks is at grade crossings where you may cross the tracks, but any other walking on or crossing is illegal in the U.S. It is not public property, but it is private railroad property, and you therefore would be trespassing and could be arrested for it!

Trains can come at any time on any track from any direction & they cannot stop as fast as cars can, especially when they're pulling a lot of railcars.

Some of the car names may be a little off, but anyway...here goes. 34 coil flat cars 25 grain hoppers 21 open hoppers 6 gondolas 7 flat cars 45 FBox cars 46 Tankers 8 auto racks 2 center beams, 1 empty, 1 loaded 1 lead locomotive 2 D.P.U.'s Using average lengths for each car category, 11,576' or 2.19 miles long. It took 15 minutes to pass in front of you

I took a crew out to a 15,000 foot train a couple of weeks ago. There's one coal bucket train that goes into the power plant at West Labadie, MO, they stop it at a certain point, and break it into two separate trains before they go into the plant.

I pass over Queensgate yard to take my kid to Elder during the week, and even that early in the morning that yard is buzzing, humping, building IM trains. So it's not surprising that train was so huge.

As many loads of metal coil you capture on video SOMEONE is using a LOT of metal. I know Toyota in Georgetown KY uses a lot of coil as they stamp a number of different vehicles for a bunch of their plants all over the USA. Still...a lot of metal is being used!!! thx
