How to build a post & beam greenhouse. Make your own Post & Beam Greenhouse with twin wall polycarbonate glazing and a poured concrete foundation. This timber frame style Western Red Cedar post & beam greenhouse has a concrete base that's 10 feet by 12 feet. I cover the carpentry of this garden greenhouse starting with cutting, notching, and preparing the posts, beams, ties, and ridge beam. Followed by the assembly of the post and beam frame. For this framing video, I detail the dado, lap, scarf, and profile cuts needed to assemble the frame of the greenhouse structure. This might be an unnecessary question, but will you make videos on what you do on the inside as well? When and what you will plant/place there? Other than that, I love the greenhouse, most probably the best looking I've seen on the Internet searching for something to get or build myself. Really great job!

Hey Kent! This greenhouse series is amazing, well produced! It seems like you get your rough sawn lumber from milling your own trees, but do you have recommendations on where to get it if you can't do that?

I'm designing an enlarged version of this and am wondering why you put a sill seal tape underneath the door foot plate but not underneath the rafter frames. Wouldn't you want to keep the wood from wicking moisture out of the concrete in both scenarios?

There is a foam sill plate gasket under the 2x4 walls. I staple it on before lifting into place.

This type of construction meets modern standards, but I wonder if there was a reason beyond simplicity you chose lag bolts instead of pegs made of the same wood used for the frame? Peg construction has been demonstrated to last longer if done correctly due to its ability to swell and shrink with the rest of the frame.

I went to the link for the stain,, but I think it is just the stain type? maybe?,, I really like the colour you use do you know the name? and it is so hard to find the right one that isn't too orange

Thanks! The tint we use is called "Butternut". It does go more towards a chocolate color over time.
