Tasmota is a great open source project. Just amazing what the firmware can do. Not sure if things have changed, but before running Tasmo Admin would cause problems especially when installed in Home Assistant. It is the way that Tasmo Admin communicates with the device that tends to overwhelming.

I've not seen any real issues with TasmoAdmin and my gear in Home Assistant. I like Tasmota a lot and I plan to do some more experiments with it down the line. It's a real pity that Tuya moved to RTL Chips instead of the ESP's

@@HiveMindAutomation Yeah it sucks that they chose to go that route. So many devices have switched to the RTL or other chips. More and more companies. Athom, and cloudfree have Tasmota pref-flashed on them and certain Matrin Jerry will have the same. Just insane to have someone else's computer around the world to say yeah, turn that device on, off or dim the lights. Then maybe one day, they will charge for that service as have so many others already done.

Hi I looked in to the eagle you recommended for power meter and also realized that you have made a walk through video on it. its quite useful thank you. I have a question is there a way to tasmatoise Casa Life (by Lightway) corner standing light from Aldi. It currently runs on tuya and its horrible. I dont see any usb slot on the light to connect to computer.

I'm not familiar with the Casa Life. If you're looking to tasmotise you'll probably need to open up the controller and solder to the connections on the unit directly, provided it's an ESP-8266 and not the RTL unit.

Earlier in the series, you mentioned about doing a installation on a PC.are you close to doing that or when will you be able to?
@HiveMindAutomation
@HiveMindAutomation Жыл бұрын
yeah it's in the pipeline. Unsure of timeline. Worth mentioning it's going to be a Linux install, not sitting on top of Windows. While that's possible it's going to be an awful experience.

I have a question. Can i control the sensors from a web app that is hosted on my own server with tasmota? Or tasmota only allows you to control the states of the sensors from this page?

Sorry I don't really understand the question. TasmoAdmin can be hosted anywhere on your network, it doesn't have to be on your Home Assistant Server. For Example I have it running in a Docker Container on my network. I can then login to that page from any device on the network with a web-browser to turn the lights on and off. You can then still control your devices from the regular Tasmota page on the device or through another orchestration Platform like Home Assistant or OpenHAB.

can anyone explain what is the advantage of using the ip address of the homeassistant device/raspberry over the standard IP address for OTA updates? @12:50 for me the standard ip works aswell as the one from homeassistant, but i don't know how homeassistant can provide the newest update file etc., maybe someone can explain, thanks!
@HiveMindAutomation
@HiveMindAutomation Жыл бұрын
not really a case of being an advantage. I Just made an assumption that the OTA Update weas going to be coming from the Raspberry Pi's IP Address so that's what I put in. If it works for you using another address then keep doing what works for you.
