Great topic today, as my son comes to me for custody placement for the next two weeks, and there WILL be mistakes. I often am harder on myself, though he can have unrealistic expectations for me as a parent too.

Bpd symptoms might improve as you age, but it doesn't go away entirely. It does stay in the back ground.

Yeah I 100% agree. I think those traits of bpd are ingrained into your personality and being but you can definitely work on lessening the symptoms so they don't affect your life so much

That’s fair, and it’s also a little like saying, “If you’ve been angry you’re gonna get angry again!” rather than making a statement about how your whole life and days of your life are going to look, or how you feel after and resolve your problems, or that you won’t feel almost infinitely better about yourself without shaming most of the time. 🫶🏻 It gets so much better that there’s no point in saying there’s still some bad days 🤷‍♀️👍🏻💐.

Do you have physical fights with your partners?

Can’t speak for anyone but myself, but not really but also kind of. When I used to rage (yes, that can stop and become much less intense with time and experience and especially quickly with DBT skills and honest loyal input). I wouldn’t hit him, that’s NOT on in my head, but if I was shouting and breaking my phone or whatever that’s a pretty traumatic “physical” experience for him, so… No, I’d answer no if you mean putting hands on them, hitting was never and is never okay, but neither was how I acted otherwise at that time, toward either of us. I was very lucky to have a partner who could deal with it. I don’t know anyone else’s history. It’s going to be very different for everyone I’m betting, so you won’t get an answer on if it’s normal or happens or if it was even related to a disorder in their experience. Questions like this are weirdly simple but individuals are nuanced. Can I see it happening? I had dreams about it that freaked me out back when, but I hated it. 🤷‍♀️ Honestly I occasionally think some males have testosterone on the level where they walk around like that all the time after seeing some stuff people will defend and call normal heh.

Is this human or is this crazy 😂… that is such a human question. Definitely checking out facts and seeing if we’re being effective toward expressing our needs I think? If I have to breathe more than once a sentence, or less than once every five sentences, I’m prooooobably not in the driver seat 😂.
