What on earth was the moment when Nunez at the back post had the opportunity to either tap it in or lay it back for szoboszlai for a tap in and then choosing to aimlessly pass it across the box to no one. That one was proper shocking...

I've noticed this wastfulness for years and that it really doesn't get the attention of fans enough. There has to be something klopp tells his players as to why they never look for that 1 extra pass which gives someone an easy tap in and why our attacks are so frantic where it's actually hindering us. He obviously thinks overall it's beneficial to tell the players to shoot on site and to be as frantic as possible. It's hard to argue with him as a manager but we really need some decision making drills and finishing practise as none of our players can hit a barn door with a banjo.

I'm convinced...the season fell apart completely last year when Jota was injured. The same is happening this season. He is underrated because his skill set makes the whole frontline better. Nunez is purely athletic with minimal technical precision. Diaz is mostly a dribbler. Jota can do all of those things AND provide clutch moments when needed! May he return soon or it's going to be butt-puckering the rest of the way.

There’s no excuse for not beating that lot on 3 different occasions. We seemed to lack any sort of killer instinct yesterday, and if we’re honest most of the season. We never seem to win games by 2 or 3 goal margins, we can’t expect to go a goal down in every game and win the game. I’m a glass half full person so I’ll think of yesterday’s point as a good point until it no longer is, but we need to stop giving respect to our opponents by constantly letting them off the hook. Big month ahead … 🙏

In every match planning meeting, the coaching team need to state: " this is premiership football, expect to be tackled, so move the ball quickly. " Then tell the following to write out 100 lines repeating this: Jones, Endo, Szob, Nunez. On their return, Ali, TAA, Jota and Konate need to go straight back in for every game.

You make some good points but sometimes player are told to do many things which are seemingly contradictory. For instance with the passing im sure they are told to pass it a bit slowly to suck defenders in to the ball and out of position by giving them some hope they can get it. So goalkeepers are the extreme of this as they both wait for the last second to pass the ball whether short or long. Our left backs are expected to play like this wingers and defend at the same time. Our midfielders are told to make killer passes but dont risk giving the ball away. All of this is going on at 100mph in premier league.its a fine line between success and failure.

Thanks so much fellas- that was therapy for me. Still frustrated but somehow hearing others feel the same way, makes it a little easier to manage- and you’ve done it with terrific analysis. Those 3 aways reminded me of the 3 aways on the trot back in Mar ‘14….Southampton, MU and Cardiff….when we won the lot, but I conveniently forgot we had them on separate weekends with no European football (rather than all in a week!). Neil made me laugh about the Goal Difference reference- to my mind, if we were more clinical (easier said than done, but post Ramadan Mo and Diogo might help- and we are creating LOADS of chances), that gap can be taken care of over 7 games without going ‘Crystal Palace away 13/14’ mad. We are better than everyone left to play us- with Jota, Trent and Ali to return, I’m much more optimistic we can win all 7, than I would be otherwise. Frustrated today, but very proud of this bunch of lads. UTFR. YNWA.

I'm not sure why we are talking about how hard we've had it at Old Trafford in the past. I'm also not sure what Neils point is about them being an odd side as its not relevant its ignoring the real issue. Its painfully obvious what the issue is and its the fact that the likes of Nunez and Diaz you cant rely on when it comes to real business end of the season in the big moments. This was the same story as City a few weeks ago when Diaz had what 2-3 clear cut chances and we come away with a draw. Today same story. Arsenal at Anfield this season same story. We dont have enough killers in the side in the same way City do when it comes to the real big moments.

I am going to comment before watching the video. So I am not influenced by it. Some points as an LFC supporter. 1) My prediction at the start of the season was Arsenal to win. They appeared to be on the same trajectory with Arteta as Liverpool were with Klopp. 2) LFC finishing 3rd, behind Man City, and a trophy somewhere else along the line I would have considered a pretty good outcome with the serious assault on the EPL coming next season. So thi season has already had a measure of success with potentially more to come. I was anticipating Man Utd again to be in the Champions League places. 3) This season, the team have not been as ruthless as say the World Club Championship winning side. 4) The team I think have slightly over-performed this season, so not a surprise. We have won games more by will power than by skill and class. 5) The introduction of the academy players has been a revelation. They will all improve. with a much better goals to chances ratio. For example in 2 seasons, I would be expecting Harvey Elliott to score from his last minute chance. 6) Jurgen Klopp has been brilliant and he will be a miss. I am definitely a fan of his. We have been badly hit by injuries, which has put additional strain on those playing. But I think the new man whoever it will be can make one improvement which is tweaking attitudes to know not only how to attack but when to attack. I think what I am saying is that there is more to be positive about than negative.

I'm not confused why we didn't win that game. This is how we play and have played for a long time. Slow passing. Too many touches. Bad decision-making. As they say in video, passing when we should shoot and shooting when we should be passing. We are a great team especially after the season we had last season. But stats can give the wrong impression. We had 28 shots but with an EG of 3.9. How can you shoot over the bar from 6 yards which diaz and salah did. Its harder to do that than keep it low. Hate that stat generally but it tells a lot of truth about us. Our proportion of shots on target is so often around 25% which considering the amount of 'shots' we have is awful. Unfortunately salah is usually the biggest villain in this. I'd come to accept he needs 6 attempts per goal. But at least he's entertaining and as long he eventually gets his goal which he normally does who cares. But in games like this it's hard not to blame him for wasting possession so much. Its these big games though where you remember when things go wrong. And especially these three games against man u which have had an undeserved effect on our season.

Tbh I understand why people are looking at the attack because they were poor and do need to be more clinical, however, I do think the defence is the bigger issue. I’ll explain, we score at least one goal every game, even though we waste a lot of chances, we are still scoring. Now we hardly ever keep clean sheets anymore and that’s why we’re dropping points. We’ve done our job if we score nearly every game up top. We can’t keep gifting teams goals and making mistakes. I understand two of the lads at the back are young and deserve some lenience, but they are to blame for our dropped points and games lost recently more than our attack. See WAY more focus on the attack though from people. I get it, we have to be more clinical, but we’ve got to sure up the back as well man. You can’t always score 2/3/4/5 goals in a game.

It’s a combination of both for me, if our forwards kill games off it puts the defence in a far more comfortable position. We won’t score 3/4/5 every game you’re right, but against that lot we have every chance, they are an abysmal football team.

I agree with the notion for sure, but I think you *can* cut the defence some slack when you consider the injuries. Gomez constantly moving around, Quansah in for Konate, Bradley in for Trent and obviously Kelleher. As good as they have all been for the majority I think you can excuse the defence not being completely solid at times. The attack does deserve the criticism on this occasion.

Great analysis, and one which gets the heart of the issue. A lack of clean sheets throughout the season, leaking too many goals and our defence not being a dominant force. I don’t know how you can coach or prep your team for this kind of madness? A very 'Dramatic' post... You can't compare this game to the Chelsea game in which Gerrard made the slip.. We should have been 3-0 up yesterday before Quansah made his mistake... It wouldn't even be mentioned today if we'd have ended up winning 4-1 or 4-2,We were nieve against Chelsea and Rodgers got schooled by Mourinho that day.

It's a fallacy that Gerrard's slip cost the league. Slips happen, it's a natural part of the game. What isn't a natural part of the game is when Sterling scored a disallowed offside goal vs city that was actually 3 yards onside. That's what cost the league, not Gerrard's slip.

Conceding 6 goals in 2 games, a draw and a defeat, against the worst Utd team in decades are good performances? 6 goals in 2 games is not dominance or control over them either. Possession and shots stats are irrelevant. They mean nothing. We can't defend or keep a clean sheet to save our lives, which will be ignored by most yet again I suspect. Thankfully at least 1 of the 4 guys here mentioned our inability to keep a clean sheet.

Very disappointing, but not surprising because the finishing frailties have been there all season. In all the games Liverpool have dropped points the xG vs Actual goals metric is -5.58. It's not about the goals scored in winning games, it's all about the chances missed and dropped points......It won't be surprising to fans the culprits. A total of 12 points dropped against Arsenal, Man City, and Man Utd home and away, all costly, but the dropped points against Utd unnecessary and ultimately very damaging.

We put pressure on the attack in having to outscore teams as we leak easy goals (no clean sheets in 8?). The DM position we have to address in the summer. Endo has been as good as he can be, but that lack of mobility/recovery pace leaves us susceptible on the break. He left a big gaping hole in midfield for their second. Without a top DM you will always be vulnerable.

Everyone's losing it because we've seen this play out twice before. Relying on the opposition to drop points has led us to not winning the title on 2 seperate occasions. When we were in control of our destiny we shouldve put it to bed, it's that simple. Especially against a really poor utd team, in a game we shouldve won comfortably. We bottled it, end of.

@@DH-TV It's not about whether or not we won the 10. When you get the opportunities we did against utd you simply have to win the game. We probably would've dropped points at some point of the run it, if the opposition is playing their absolute hardest etc but when it's an easy game and you have 13 chances against a team out of form and possibly sacking the manager as well as playing a debutante at cb, you have to win the game. That was us bottling it simple as. We saw signs against Sheffield utd that we're feeling the pressure, the players look so leggy and I don't think this squad at the moment is capable mentally of playing 2x a week and having to win and dealing with the pressure. Pressure is an acquired taste and this is a new team who haven't experienced that yet, bit like arsenal last year.

We're in a *great* position with arguably now our toughest game out the way, forget that united aren't in a great place - they were much better than us for 25+ years but we'd still always turn up and give them a tough game at anfield 👍 it's the same at goodison which again is probably now our toughest game, it's football, it defies logic sometimes but it is what it is. Let's go again and see what happens
@musayibghani3986

@@DH-TV it's not our toughest game on paper. And it weren't our toughest game during the game either, Everton isn't our toughest either. Villa away and Tottenham and home are the toughest. Even if top 4 at the beginning of the season was the aim, once you're in the situation of being top with 8 games to go you simply have to take advantage. You can't look at it and be grateful you simply go for it. The Rodgers season was painful for the same circumstances if we got top 4 that year at the beginning you would've been happy but once you're in a situation where your top with 3 to go you simply win and ask questions later. It's even more painful knowing that this is Klopps last season and 1 epl for a guy who'd done so much is a shocking record, he won't go down as a legend of the epl and we won't have won enough major trophies under his tenure. Added to that is the fact that we don't know if we'll ever get back to this level. Next season will be another transitional season where we'll have to change style of play, formation and systems. And I Don't think with our budget and pep being in the league we'll get back here for a while, added to that is that salah and van dijks contract is up. This is a defining season for us.
