Let's beat those tanks into plows. War is so pointless with the technology wielded today. Its not much to do about honor or defense of our tribe in our times. I respect you and you're service to our country in these difficult times.

Chances of you guys seeing this are pretty slim, but… I’ve listened to this probably north of 100 times and the second verse in particular is probably the strongest/most profound lyrics i’ve ever heard in any poem/song. the fact that you’re delivering it with gorgeous music is the icing on the cake. love love love this. thank you

“I’ve stood where heroes have fallen, their names turned to stone. Yet I remain nameless, a best friend a hero has known”. One of the most powerful song lyrics I’ve heard in the past year. The forgotten have a voice. Beautiful song, even more beautiful meaning.

I love this song on either the mandolin or the banjo. The lyrics move me every time. A sad and soft and sensible anti war song, from the perspective of a cavalry horse. we need more of this

They so well caught the beauty and connection of these truly gifted artist s. It is also the first one of this song I have seen Andrew use the banjo for. They are such a blessing. I hope that they keep at it

Anyone know the banjo tuning Andrew is in for this?
@jamesriesterer1141
@jamesriesterer1141 3 жыл бұрын
There appears to be multiple inquiries about the banjo tuning as Andy plays it in this performance. Making that deduction is always relative. For instance: as those of you who are familiar with old time claw hammer style playing, there are several “standard” tunings, based upon the location of the songs origin. And in this case, he is playing with a Capo placed on the 3rd fret (likely to elevate the pitch into a comfortable range for their vocals). But, those are guesses from one who, humbly, is not an old-time, claw-hammer player. I am, however, familiar with writing and recording six string acoustic guitar, and in this era of song style, the chord structure is quite similar to common era chord structure. Emily is, and has been, a clean and consistent chord stylist. She uses standard chord shapes, augmenting with double root fingering on strings 5 & 6, usually on the chorus, for descending bass lines. This becomes relevant when you are trying to establish the use of “drop pitch” root strings. From observing her performance in this song, she appears to be in standard tuning. She also applies a Capo. Her positioning is located on the 5th fret, therefore, to make things short, she’s playing in “Standard A”. That translates to pitch elevation of a 5th. So, playing a C chord in the 5th position elevates the pitch to sound equivalent to F chord. Translation being Emily is playing chord pattern for the key of F. Of course, I could be mistaken….
