can you mark the impact points retrospectively (obv easy if you use numbered arrows)? or do you have to enter them as you shoot...?

Is there an estimated date when the update for rapid fire will be added for the X10?

Not soon enough! We're working hard on it.

MantisX thanks! I’m looking forward to it. If you could program times like a Par Timer into the Mantis X it would literally destroy the market.

Is it an all in 1 item, meaning I can take it off my bow and use it on firearms?

The Mantis X8 is for archery only. If you want to use Mantis on your bow and firearms check out the Mantis X10.

He's shooting a barebow, Olympic-style. Big problem the developers did not account for: the rail CANNOT be mounted in the sight window. Neither inside or outside. Anywhere in this area, the rail can be construed as a "sighting device or aid", not permitted under WA barebow rules, and confirmed with several judges. The archer needs to find - or more likely configure - a flat surface on the side of the riser above or below the sight widow area. A great device, but don't get the idea that you can just "slap it on" a barebow.

We are working with World Archery to change the rules allowing Mantis in competition. They are supportive, just have to go through the bureaucratic process. And until that point (hopefully soon), it can be used in practice!

Could you mount it to a dovetail that's mounted to your bow, then just remove the dovetail mount for competitions? The weight is negligible and won't affect your performance at a competition.

@@lukebaker7389 Absolutely!

@@MantisX It's not that it can't be used in competition - it absolutely can. The issue is Rule 22.3.1 which states in part "The bow as described above shall be bare except for the arrow rest and free from protrusions, sights or sight marks, marks or blemishes or laminated pieces (within the bow window area) which could be of use in aiming." If a WA interpretation allows for the Pic Rail to be mounted outside the sight window, that would help. But it would have to be a very narrow interpretation to keep in the spirit of barebow, and would probably lead to all sorts of abuses by people trying to "get an edge". I don't see it happening.

@@lukebaker7389 One option I will look at (today) is to drill and countersink a hole in the Pic Rail supplied by Mantis so I can screw it into one of the sight mounting sockets on my Oly riser. Then I can indeed take it off for competition. That would solve the problem for me, but not all the potential Mantis customers in the Trad world without an Oly configured riser.
