Many Action Options

We have many action options for custom rifle builds. Randy first discusses some of the newer actions to our line up, as well as the older actions, such as Mausers, Enfields, Winchester, Weatherby, Remington, etc. actions that will give you, with his expertise, just as good of a build as the newer actions.
At one time Randy built some custom rifles on Terminus actions. They are well made, but the turnaround time got to be unpredictable and when asked about approximate delivery date, the owner would, most of the time, not answer emails or phone calls, but when he did email once we were told, “You’ll get it when you get it.” After over a year on one action and over 6 months, both clients agreed to go with a different action.
Randy has been building rifles on Mack Brother’s custom actions for some time using, because of the caliber choice, on Mack Brother’s EVOII stainless steel BDL long action. Randy shows the action, with close ups, photos and a thorough description. The EVOII comes in a standard bolt face and magnum bolt face. At this time they are only making right hand actions. This is a Remington footprint action, with improvements. It also comes in short action model.
For a light-weight rifle build, Randy is now building a custom rifle on Mack Brother’s Element action, which eliminates all the unnecessary weight to bring you a custom action weighing 19.8 ounces.
Mack Brothers also offer actions in EVOII Titanium BDL Long Action and Short Actions; DBL long and short actions; and BDL short action, as well as a muzzle loader action.
Great turnaround time and customer service coupled with a great product is good for us all.
Next, after much research, Randy will be using Lone Peak actions, for custom builds, also. Lone Peak is one of the few companies making right and left hand actions. For this current build he is using the Fuzion action, RH. This action is nitride coated and really well made all around.

Thanks for keeping us up to date🙌 after being in customer service for almost 50 years before retiring I have seen what poor customer service can do to a business! Old guys like us just need to keep sharing out wisdom until we can’t anymore!

I will speak up for Joel and Terminus. I have purchased three actions from Joel, a Kratos being the first. This was my first custom build; Joel was patient and answered a ridiculous amount of questions over multiple calls to the point that I felt bad for taking up so much of his time. We talked about every component of a rifle and his experiences with darn near every brand. We even had a long conversation about shooting schools. Through all this, he was very patient and seemed happy to share his knowledge. I can see why he and his actions have become so popular. Joel seems to be one man running the show rather than an entire team like Defiance. Which I think is pretty neat. If you are willing to be patient, I think his product is phenomenal and worth the wait.

Many people come up with great products that succeed very well in the marketplace. Unfortunately many of these individuals forget about the human aspect of the business, in that they are providing more than a product, they are also providing a service. I hate to show my ignorance, but I wish I’d seen your video 2 weeks ago. I have a Defiance Tenacity, which I LOVE, an Aero Precision Solus which is pretty good. I just received a couple weeks ago a Defiance Classic and now I’m having buyers remorse over seeing the Mack Bros which I didn’t know existed. 🤦‍♂️

I've been in the gun business for nearly 40 years and have found this to be SOP. Some suppliers are worse than others, but few, if any, of the boutique/custom manufacturers appear to be run by savvy management experts. Instead the problems are the result of machinists and gunsmiths who eventually outgrow their limited business acumen and production capabilities.

I’m having this experience with Joel with Terminus right now - and it’s like the second or third time so I’m about to drop him as well - love his actions, but when a man just over and over consecutively can’t stick to his word he finally becomes a liar

He's built rifles on all those actions in the past. What's the sense this mac brothers action is just as good of machine work for a lot less $. You priced a Borden action lately? Or a bat machine action? There thousands of dollars. Just the action

@@REDNECKROOTS Mack bros is great stuff. I own two of their suppressors. Back when they manufactured Dakota. Varminter 4.0. I'm asking his opinion on the ones I listed, and if he will still make custom rifles based on the actions I was referring to. Just curious as I am getting into the game myself. I've priced all of those lately and have two different rifles built off of Borden. Great actions cost $$$

@@REDNECKROOTSBAT and Borden are the best of the best. There’s a reason why they cost what they do…..because they’re worth it. That doesn’t mean any of the other actions aren’t good, because they are very good, but they aren’t a BAT or Borden. The only actions on the market that are grossly overpriced are Defiance.

Thanks for making this video. I'm considering building a custom rifle and really could use advice on which action might be best. I'm not a fan of Remington because I've seen too much when I sold firearms...bolt handles breaking off and cracks in the action after being used. It seems those actions and bolts were made out of pot metal.

Can you do a takedown with a McMillan mcwoody stock ??
@TheRealGunsmith
@TheRealGunsmith 3 ай бұрын
No, McMillan for the takedowns as they have checkering that comes right where the cut needs to be made for the takedown configuration I use. Not only would it look chopped up, there would be a tendency for chipping because of the checkering. I only use wood or fiberglass or laminate stocks that have either no checkering or checkering that is at least 1/4" ahead of the receiver. Thanks for watching.

The wait time from time of order to the time it came to us was over 16 months on the last time we were going to order one. While they are great actions, these are in the same class and the wait time is minimal from time of order placed. The last two Mack Brother actions we ordered, we had in two DAYS. Lone Peak was around 3 months. I can turn product around for my clients in a much more timely fashion, get the same great accuracy. Thanks for watching.

Trigger-techs are junk? Seriously? Because you had a problem with one? That’s almost all I run in about five or six different Rifles when it comes to custom triggers and I’ve never had a bit of problem with any of them and some of them I shoot a lot - no need to crap on it just because, you’ve had one that had an issue! come on man

I was thinking the same thing. Trigger-tech is a good trigger. So are Timney, Jewel, and Bix & Andy. Having a problem one time doesn’t make something junk. It would be a different story if they continuously have problems, but they don’t.
