MAP star Jamie Hughes is back 'On The Box' at Boldings Pools in Bridgnorth. With the weather warming up and the fish starting to feed can he put in a match winning performance under pressure...

Was good to see how I fished as a kid. Lived in Canada now for 37 years, going North on Friday for 4 months, just 120 miles from Toronto. 40 ft caravan. Will fish for fish that have never been cought before. Pike Bass, Pickeral, Perch, and Muskie. All have teeth and all taste great. cooked over the camp fire. We have to watch out for the bears, the Mozzzeis, and the black fly, dont even mention the DEAR FLY. I think maybe you guys get smaller fish you can't eat but, you don't have to suffer the elements quite as much. Keep the show coming.

I fished a few matches many years ago but stopped all fishing when the kids came along did not think I would be able to get back to it last few years as I am now disabled but my 30 year old son has just taken up the hobby, he also bought me a new rod an reel as I'd given all my gear away a few years ago. He said he will come with me and carry all the gear for me so I agreed had a great day out at a local fishery a couple of weeks back & can safely say the bug is back. I had to buy a good supportive fishing chair as my backs not in a good way severe spinal stenosis and 3 damaged lower back disks. Now I can enjoy the sport once again got our rod licences and off we went its also nice just the quiet and being in the lovely countryside

Great vid and sadly i have now watched all the match fishing vids on this channel...hope some more will come soon. I was fishing with red maggots at my local fishery last week. Started off on a short line (2+2) in open water catching steadily with a mixed bag mainly Roach, a few Perch, some nice skimmers and the odd F1 and Carp. One Carp was nearly 10lb. As it slowed down i went long and then last hour and half fished my left margin at close range using just my top 2 plus 2 again. It was devastating, couldnt believe how awesome that margin was and for that last part of the session it was just Carp with one or two F1's (one small Crucian i think too) and one Roach about 6oz. As i'm new getting back into pole fishing, i hadnt fished the margins before...after that last week, i just want to fish one of my margins straight away next time. Is it possible to fish your margin first and catch there (by first i mean at the start so about 10 or 11am), at least for a while and when it dries out, go back on it at the end? my plan is to plumb up one of my margins, then feed it with casters and then plumb up a short line in open water. Once thats plumbed feed the margin again with cad pot and fish that. If i dont get anything for about 10 mins i'll go to that open water short line.

I find that if the fish are in the margin kicking up the mud, soft paste or sweetcorn will catch them, or maybe a cube of meat. I don't fish on banded hard pellets much, but this year I'm going to to use that method more. I do use hair rigged banded pellets such as 8mm robin reds on a pellet feeder and that usually works quite well. Interesting video Jamie and I picked up some useful tips.

Great video always like watching Jamie class angler and well presented. As I have a match at boldings in june and have not fished there for a few years it was educational. Looking forward to meeting ED and Sue the owners again in my opinion and having been other fisheries in the area you could not wish to meet better owners.

Great viewing love these on box vids. Questions. On the maggot line to the right he said he would have preferred a lighter rig, what was he using and how light would he have liked to fish? On the left-hand side fishing pellet also he said he would have liked a lighter rig same again how light would he like to fish. Also when feeding the maggot line would a larger pot not have made it more positive?

They dont fit because you need s bigger net lol . Gonna dammage them bending them up in nets like that. Why not have 2 nets set up ? Small and a bigger one for bigger carp . Im surprised thr fishery dont hsvr that as a rule as they should be concerned about fish care really .
