I love how 80% of the video is about Ukraine. As a Pole i think that euro was a huge marketing succes, even though a lot of investments weren't made in time for the tournament, and I believe the biggest controversies were how highways were build on private lands which shockingly were owned by some politicians and so they could earn money on selling them. And the other one was that most companies that built stadiums went bankrupt because they couldn't bare the cost of repairs after the tournament.

I was at the EURO 2012 in both Poland and Ukraine, and honestly I haven't found any sort of controversy at all. And I was in Donetsk, which is by now occupied by actual russian fascists.

I think judging a country by their football fans is never a good idea. Here in the UK we have a lot of racist, homophobic and antisemitic behaviour from football fans, and it’s generally defended as “just a bit of banter”. Like the Spurs fan who threw a banana at Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and said in his defence he just picked up the nearest thing to throw and it happened to be a banana, or the West Ham fans who verbally abused a Jewish passenger on a plane to Belgium.

As a Czech, I must say that EURO 2012 was one of the greatest championships of all times. The memories from there are simply extraordinary, mainly because of the atmosphere Polish fans brought. I vividly remember the match against Poland, where Petr Jiráček scored an absolutely astonishing goal, which sent us to the quarter-final. It gives me goosebumps :'-))

Sorry but it's terribly one-sided and condescending take BBC documentary was extremely biased in the way it pushed its narrative. It led many black sportsmen living in Poland to make statements condemning Cole for his ignorant and racist rant. I remember travelling a lot at the time of the tournament, seeing fans everywhere and it generally was a massive celebration. In fact same hooligans you're talking about warned their supporters not to try to attack foreign fans or else they'd be dealt with by themselves. For the amount of people that arrived in Poland it was extremely peaceful tournament

yeah about that, I'd say Ukraine is the most... "problematic" of those two its kind of amazing to see a video of someone describing Ukraine for what it has been until recently. Now, I'm not an idiot, I'm not saying "oh so actually they're the bad guys", nothing justifies this invasion. it's just wierd and somewhat refreshing to see such a nonchalant review of Ukraine's darker side without everyone going nuts. To be fair, Euro 2012 and 2018 World Cup was a precursor for Russia and Ukraine before they ignited a deadly conflict this year. Ukraine hosted Euro 2012, and two years later, Russia annexes Crimea from Ukraine, thus starting a crisis. The Ukrainian crisis only happened several weeks after Winter Olympics in Sochi. Russia hosted 2018 World Cup. The same year, Ukraine also hosted the Champions League Final in Kiev, when Liverpool's Loris Karius made two infamous goalkeeping errors.

Not saying that the prices would go up as much in Charlotte, but I"m curious what you could compare the Euro Cup to happening IN Charlotte. there's the quantity of the games being played. Let's say ALL of the NCAA basketball games were going to happen in North Carolina, except people were treating each game like the finals of the NBA. I doubt the prices at the 5 star hotel would go up as high, but how do you compare how much Europeans feel about Soccer with an event in the USA? I do think the three star prices would be higher over all, considering Euro's are worth more than the US dollar. Thanks for your videos, and price hikes were on the lower end of issues you mentioned. My memory as a child is going with my family rooting for the blue guys(argentina) in the tournament,and for some 'Messi'(whatever happened to him lol) and then getting blown away as Germany destroy them in the quarter finals.
