Absolutely fantastic tips!!! Love the way you incorporated the Quidditch Pitch into the map. I so appreciate how easy your instructions are. I am 70 yrs old and making the Marauder's map for my 13 yr old grandchild, and I can't wait to see the surprise on her face when she receives it. Thank you so very, very much!!!!!

Can you just make a normal student map of Hogwarts? Like with all of the floors (dungeons and up), classroom names, owlery, quidditch pitch, courtyards, Hagrid's hut, forbidden forest, room of requirements, prefects bathrooms, kitchen, black lake, you could have maps of each of the common rooms and dorms and where they are in Hogwarts (you can have an option where you can have all of them in the book or the person printing can just leave out the common rooms that aren't their house. And in the corner it can say how you get into each one), etc. So basically a little booklet/packet/pocket map of Hogwarts? Something a normal student would carry around to find their way around the castle. If you do the booklet the cover could be the house colors/pattern. Or just black with the Hogwarts crest or all of the colors. Or just a normal-looking Hogwarts notebook with a spot to put name and house on the front (or inside). No matter what design, I think the name tag would be a good thing to put in it.

I wanted to ask you, is it possible to create the map in card stock or would it be too thick, with all the internal additions? Or do you think it is better to make the body of the map in card stock and the internal additions in paper?

The Marauder's Map is my favourite movie prop - Thank you! Tip - for the light box I just stick a flashlight in a small clear plastic container. You can also line the bottom of the plastic container with aluminum foil to increase the brightness

How many extra footprints have you now added to your original Marauder's Map template? I believe my original map, yet to be glued together, has 28 pieces. I have since downloaded the set of Hermione, Ron, Malfoy, & Snape, as well as the separate ones for Hagrid's Hut, & the Quidditch Pitch.

Hi there! I've been such a longtime fan and I think I am finally able to tackle making the map during my work vacation time this Christmas! I was wondering, when printing the images double sided, would I select "Print on Long Edge" or "Print on Short Edge"? I assume it would be the former as that is the default usually, but I just wanted to make sure! Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!

For the map, flip on long edge. Basically, if you are printing something in portrait, you typically want to flip on the long edge. If you are printing in landscape, flip on short edge.

Hi, if I make a grammatical error, sorry, cause this isn't my first language. There it is the parts C, D, E n F of the maps in 8,5x11? Because I printed the new templates in the 8,5x11 scale that you made available. But the parts C, D, E n F just have in A3 scale and if I use the tool to adjust the scale to size in the A4 paper than, in the end, these parts will be smaller than the parts A n B that didn't have their scales reduced. Could anyone please try to explain to me what to do.

I hate to be that person but i live in the UK and i cant print in A3 so is there a way I can get a template that has the a3size but split into A4 sheets? this would really make my day

The easiest thing would be for you to print the letter size version (8.5x11) on A4 sheets. When you print, select the scale to fit option in your printer preferences.

That's correct. It will be 60 double sided pages for a total of 120.

There's no need to have the new templates without the BG because the changes are only there to help with the version that includes a background.

My printer doesn't take 11x17 paper so I downloaded the 8.5x11 template. I don't have enough printer ink or clue sticks so will be going to the store in a few minutes. Can you make the templates without the parchment background? I have paper that already looks like parchment that I could use.

@@user-vs8mg6lw5c My printer only has one flip option so I am good when I use it. But my moms printer doesn't have a flip option so I have to print all the odd numbers and then flip the paper backwards to print all the even numbers.

This is soooo good!!! I made 2! But I’m a bit confused on the older version part that I need for this new version. I have printed the hidden footprints and pages 31 to 44 from the old map. Do I need section D1? Idk where to glue it... I will re-rewatch the videos. Otherwise thanks so much!!! It is a very nice design, easy to make and awesome to explore. :)

Hi! Since you have managed to do it, I figured I should ask you about it instead! I have separately printed pg 31-44 since i followed this new template, however, the sizes in the old pg 31-44 doesn't fit the sizes in the new ones. How did you make it fit? Not sure if I'm doing anything wrong hmmm.

@@sarasf93 Heyy! Unfortunately no. I've tried printing it as actual size and print to fit (and the other options) but nothing works. So I've put the project onhold for now since printing it cost a lot :(

These templates are the same size as my original map with footprints. It must be settings on your printer. As long as you print both versions with the same printer, using the same settings, you should be good.

So am I right when I say: I have to print out: -The whole marauders map (year 2017 because I saw in the old one were more sides as in the new so I think in the new is not all the sides? So I have to print out the map from year 2017?) -The quidditch pitch -Hagrids hut Please tell me if I’m wrong I don’t want to do it wrong... Because in the new map are just the half of the old one... and I don’t want to miss any page. As an exsmple in the new one aren’t the footprints... Just tell me if I’m wrong :)

I honestly have more problems printing out the add ons. I have the map and the 1st add on but a friend I used to have did the add ons for me. They never come out right...

its because different web browsers and pdf readers give different margins on your paper so you have to see that when you print your scale setting is on 100 % all the time

@@svd9549 thanks. I think once my exams are over I'll push myself to try it again. But first I need to find someone with a decent printer. Mine's a cheap ink printer that is on the verge of killing itself whenever I have to print my apparently extraordinary colourful Chemistry stuff.

If you printed your map on A4 or A3 paper, you want to print the 8.5x11 version of the pitch and use scale to fit in your print options.

You probably used the "scale to fit" option when you printed your original map. Try that with the Quidditch pitch.
