This came up in my feed in 2023. Smoky Mountain Knife Works has this for $6.99. Actual Deflation!😂

Funny you bring the Marbles knife up. I just bought a set that included a compass, the match safe and a knife like that one for my grandson's 8th birthday. For an 8 year old it should do well. When he gets older I'll up grade him to the Victorinox.

My father did 20 years in the navy. He was always bringing home a U.S knife of some kind. Camilus made most of them. Many were these stainless four blade pocket knives marked USMC. They are always stamped with the contract year on the blade I have bought many over the years at flea markets and gunshows for $10. The asking price for the last Camilus I saw was $30. Stainless steel for knives wasn't all that good back in the 60s but they were very useful tools.

Funny you talk about the can openers, I have the original US Army P38 can openers that my grand dads carried during WWII that came in the C Rats . They still work great , marked Speakers.
@jasonhoyt82325 жыл бұрын
I have about 6 or 7 of them for various kits. It's actually very good quality.

The can opener is used to open/cut towards you, not away. It really doesn't need to be sharp.... It will work fine.

I would really enjoy the sierra cup cooking video. I'd say a lot of us would. Simple "camp" cooking with the basics of the basics.

I only have 3 of these. The last one was improperly packaged with all 4 blades partly open, so it has a busted backspring. With 4 blades and 2 back springs, partially opening all 4 blades on these is a BAD idea, no matter who made the knife. You are pretty much guaranteed one or both backsprings will break. I've seen many Camillus made "Demo" knives with a broken backspring, caused by the same thing.. The Marbles is a good knife. They are MAYBE 0.125 inch (1/8th inch) shorter closed than the Western made "Demo" knife the Army Reserves issued to me in 1975. (I still have it) Quality is the same as the Camillus, and other manufacturers who made this knife for the military. The bail is "Strong enough to pull a Jeep" as they used to say. A good EDC.

I thought I was the only one to receive a demo knife made by Western! Issued to me in '94.

Honestly, I prefer Rough Rider knives over Marbles knives. But I prefer Rough Rider knives over some of the top companies out there, even though the RR knives cost anywhere from nine to sixteen dollars. I really don't care where a knife is made. I own knives from at least two dozen countries, and hope to have knives from every country possible before I die. Marbles used to make very good premium knives, even had some pretty fancy ones that were made in Germany, but the recent knives I've bought from Marbles were cheap in every bad sense of the word. I've given up on new Marbles pocketknives, though I still look for older knives that really were high quality. I'm going to try a couple Marbles fixed blade knives, and then decide where to go from there.

Knock off of the military "demo" knife that Camillus and Imperial made for many years.

Most of us would have gladly paid $20 if it had been better made, or at least had some German blade technology in it. None the less, Marbles fixed blade hunting knives had always been very high quality. Perhaps those are still USA made.
@logcabinlooms6 жыл бұрын
+J.P. Stone I believe the fixed blades are made in Washington state. Companies are always dropping quality to compete on price with imports, missing the point that many people are happy to pay a bit more to get quality. You can only trade on your good name alone for a short time before it catches up with you.

Ah, Chinese copy of the old US GI pocket knife, as made by Camillus and some others. Hence the US marking.

Yes, the real GI ones are built. Tried to open a can with a cheapo Chinese pocket knife awhile back. The can was tougher, and bent the opener. Wound up using a screwdriver instead.

You started out saying you couldn't see anything wrong with the knife. Then you found major flaws with every tool. But then you kept excusing it as being ok for a $10 knife. Not your usual video, that's for sure.
