This is the second video in a 2 part tutorial detailing how I make my marble split cups. Part 1 of this tutorial can be found here • Marble Split Tumbler T...
(Steps 1-7 detailed in the description box of the PART 1 video)
Step 8: After epoxying twice until smooth, tape off the area we will be spray painting rose gold. Remember that this spray painted section will be part of our overall design so it’s important to spray on a clean, smooth epoxied surface. Spray paint the section, let dry completely then remove your tape. Find the spray paint here: amzn.to/2TsJDxL
Step 9: Apply a thin layer of epoxy and let cure fully. Then sand lightly wherever needed. Wash the cup with dish soap and water and dry thoroughly with a coffee filter.
Step 10: Cut your vinyl strips (11.5” x .15”) and circle (2”) with your cutting machine. Apply to the cup and trim off excess with a craft knife. Allow 1-2 hours for your vinyl to fully adhere to the cup before epoxying. Find the vinyl here: amzn.to/3bGF1f6
Step 11: Epoxy the cup until smooth, sanding and cleaning between layers as needed.

I enjoy watching a fellow PNW artist, I wanted to suggest a life changer tool I found for training the tops or bottoms of cups I think it would be super useful for your technique with the top trim. It’s the wicked cup edging tool, I got one it’s even amazing door making edges straight when your taping of sections and want to leave an edge raw. And I know told that make little tasks easier are my fave ❤️ I just thought I’d share the love since you share so much with us.

I'm sorry, I can't say because it is not Peachy Olive glitter. It's just a micro fine silver additive. :-)

I love this cup! Have you ever tried this method on a curved tumbler? I have a bunch of 30 oz curves tumblers I want to start using before I order anymore

Not yet! But it would probably work out ok on a modern curve because you're only going half way around. just make sure you seal it really well so you can really maneuver the waterslide over those curves

I do not warm it. It just gets warm in my hand while I mix it I guess. It will warm itself while you let it sit for a few mins.

I was told not to use gloss paint. I see the only Candy Pink I can find is that one. Can you please give me a tip on using gloss spray paint? I so love your work! Your presentation is everything!

you can use gloss paint for base painting for glitter. It just take a little longer to dry. Rustoleum's gloss spray paints are great. I just wouldn't use them for like a geode or shiplap cup. Thanks so much!

Is this roughly the same way you would do one of your beautiful split cups with adhesive vinyl instead of waterslide?

yes kind of. With adhesive vinyl, I'd apply the vinyl first before anything. then tape off for glitter and isolate the glitter in the same way i do here. I'm hoping to have a full wrap and partial wrap tutorial up soon w/ the patterned vinyl. Its like one of my favoritest ways to do a cup lol

New to your channel.Omg beautiful work. What do you use to pop the bubbles. I have that problem with the bottom of the cup and top. I could still feel the glitter and some little bubbles.

Alejandra Covarrubias i use a heat gun but make sure you let your epoxy sit before applying for about 5 mins. Also, make sure to stir slowly. Thinner coats will also help with that. If you’re still feeling glitter on the cup after 2 coats of epoxy then you need to sand the cup and then add another layer. In the end result you shouldn’t feel any glitter poking through.

I personally would not want to do this same technique on glass. It is possible but you'll get better results on stainless steel.

it's a honeywell north organic vapor full face respirator. you'll have to google and search for one because i'm not able to source and link them - they sell out as soon as they get in stock.

I am having a problem with the epoxy separating from the vinyl details, it’s creating pits. I am thinking there may be some kind of oil or something on the vinyl strip. I tried cleaning the vinyl with rubbing alcohol but it doesn’t seem to help. How do I get around that happening?

You can seal the vinyl with a clear coat of spray sealer prior to epoxying

Thank you! The marble is waterslide. I found the image used in this video in a "digital scrapbook" paper pack that I purchased on Etsy and then printed it onto waterslide paper. Mine was gifted to my from a Honeywell employee before the pandemic. I have not been able to source one with a stable link because they sell out so quickly. You can find one by googling: "full face organic vapor respirator"
